Got mine today!

I wasn't sure if I liked the Burris Tac30 on it but the more I looked at it and shouldered it the more I liked it. Plus I mounted it with quick-detach Leupold rings so I can throw a red dot on there easily if I want.

This is going to be an awesome hunting and plinking rig. Even better when I get my SDN-6.

Shown here with some 110gr TTSX handloads.

That looks fun. Oh, and if you dont mind me asking, "what lens did you use for that last shot?" I love the focus and blur there. It seems like every lens I have is too long to pull that off, unless I can manage to get way back and zoom in and there just isnt enough room in my house it does not seem like for me to do that.

Extraction on them isnt the strongest. Mine needed a "ramrod" to know empties out in 243. It would be an ok fun gun butni wouldnt rely on it for anything where it needs to function

I have a very similar rifle. Only mines an encore in 9mm Luger. 147 xtp's @ 1450 should make a great youth deer load

I just used the lens that came with our Canon SLR. Nothing special, just got lucky and it turned out well.

I have thought about either getting one of those handi rifles or just going ahead and build a short barreled bolt gun in the blackout. I already have a suppressed 9" AR SBR that's quite fun to shoot. Everything I load for it is subsonic (220 or 240gr match kings ) as I have little interest in supersonic loads. It's a neat toy!

^^^ Ah, life in a free state. Perhaps some day those of us stuck in Cali will no longer be discriminated against. In the meantime, enjoy that really cool carbine!

The only technical question to ask is: What is the twist rate of the rifling in this .300 Blackout? To properly allow the gun to work with subsonic heavy bullets, it should be around 1 in 8" twist. Not everyone will need that capability, but that is what the cartridge was designed for, and lighter bullets seem to work fine in the faster twist, too. Anyone know the answer?

The handi rifle is 1:7.

Very cool looking little gun. Should be plenty of oomph for SC deer. BTW - thanks for your service - my dad was stationed at USMC Beaufort about 10 years ago.

Tex,

I have to say you've got that wrong. Handi's, with the exception of .270 and .243 which are known for accuracy issues, are a shooters delight, particularly if you handload. And they last a long, long time.

if it's a Handi rifle...you get what you pay for....save some money and get a reliable rifle. one that you will still be using years from now.
Im not sure if this was supposed to be a compliment or a jab.

I did. Only spent $350 and got a rifle that relies on about as simple and reliable a firing mechanism as you can find in any gun. Plus any parts that could wear out are inexpensive and easy to find.

I bought a .223 Handi for my dad about 15 years ago. It unlocked and flung the empty (at high speed) zipping past my ear with every shot. It also grouped about 6" at 100 yards with really good handloads.

I think I got less than what I paid for. Others tell me the larger bores shoot better.

It`s NOT a --deleted-- toy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One definition of the word toy is "something that serves for or as if for diversion, rather than for serious pratical use."

Another acceptable definition is "an object designed to be played with"

The verb play is in turn defined as "to exercise or employ oneself in diversion, amusement, or recreation."

Calling it a toy is perfectly acceptable, and the denotation of the word is a fitting description. You need to A) learn how to use a dictionary and B) calm down.

I can, and do, accurately refer to some of my guns as toys, as well as my road motorcyle, my dirt bikes, my boat, etc. That isn't to say one doesn't need to know how to properly use them or that they don't need to be respected and used properly.

I am trying to get one right now. I did also get a bolt action Remington Micro 7 last week. This handi rifle will be used for the grandkids, another question just popped into my head, does the handi make a 30 carbine barrel??
