One definition of the word toy is "something that serves for or as if for diversion, rather than for serious pratical use."

Another acceptable definition is "an object designed to be played with"

The verb play is in turn defined as "to exercise or employ oneself in diversion, amusement, or recreation."

Calling it a toy is perfectly acceptable, and the denotation of the word is a fitting description. You need to A) learn how to use a dictionary and B) calm down.

I can, and do, accurately refer to some of my guns as toys, as well as my road motorcyle, my dirt bikes, my boat, etc. That isn't to say one doesn't need to know how to properly use them or that they don't need to be respected and used properly.
You all wonder why you have to lock-up or hide your guns from your kids. When I was growing up guns & toy were not used together & my father never locked up or hide the guns, we were educated in the do`s & dont`s of firearm safety & we never had an incident & I raised my four boys in the same fashion & we have never had an incident...........Guys & gals if your kids read this stuff, quit calling them (TOYS), you play with toys, you play with a (GUN) your going to get hurt or killed or hurt or kill some one else. So (PLEASE) stop calling them toys. OK I`m done..............

you play with toys, you play with a (GUN) your going to get hurt or killed or hurt or kill some one else.

Only if you assign the word "play" a meaning it does not per se have (something that must include some unsafe behavior). If I go shoot IDPA and follow every safety rule that is well within the definition of the word "play." If I go shoot sporting clays, I am well within an acceptable definition of the word play. I have to laugh at someone deciding that their semantic preferences and personally chosen definitions are THE way it is, and getting butt hurt and chastising adults for accurately using words inline with their denotation.

As for the connection you draw between using a word on an online forum and teaching one's children gun safety and how one chooses to store one's firearms, the connection is so spurious as to not be worth even responding to.

Back on track...

Nice looking gun.

The guys over at GBO forums (greybeard outdoors) can tell you any and everything about Handis.

To the guy with a 6 moa .223, some say a shim or spacer on the front end helps with accuracy issues. I have one that is well under that, and I am not a good shooter. Perhaps it was heavy bullets in the older 1/12" twist barrels?

Just to toss my Handi Rifle experience out there, My .270 was a sub .5 moa shooter with 140gr Hornady Superformance SST. I'm not saying they all are great but my one singular rifle of theirs that I have owned was nothing but a deer slayer and sure to win a bet at the range....just sayin.. I wouldn't trade it in for my Savage though :)

I'm sure you will love your rifle...that is great news that they are out...I haven't heard anything about the NEF 300BO, so I figured it was put on a back burner.

That is a very inexpensive way to get into 300BO. I want one.

I had a NEF in a laminate stock in 223 and it shot very well for a $200 rifle. I agree with what the other poster stated...the 243's give owners issues, but other calibers shoot very well.

Have one in 45-70, shoots great, use a 2 power red dot tosco scope, with 405sp bullets. It groups .25 at 100 yards, yes thats 1/4 inch groups! at 1950fps.

I like the rifle, been wanting to pick one up in .500S&W but never got around to it. The short .300Blackout sounds cool too. They're inexpensive but I've never considered them "cheap".

You all wonder why you have to lock-up or hide your guns from your kids.
I am not a child and I have no children. I have no issues whatsoever considering guns I purchase for non-serious purposes "toys". Because that's what they are. Nor do I have an issue with sitting in front of the TV, watching True Grit and "playing" with a Colt SAA. It's no different from considering my Harley a "toy". Yes, it's 650lbs of steel and rubber capable of running about 130mph so it's not for children but that does not change the fact that it's a nonessential play thing. I work from home so I don't ride it to work, I rarely run errands with it and I don't race. It's only for fun and enjoyment. If that doesn't define "toy", I don't know what does. Same for the guns that are bought for fun and no particular purpose, other than painting a smile on my face.
