Just got back from a trip where we had to drive through MS. Both my wife and I have AR CCW permits.Stopped in a little town called New Augusta to get gas and a bite to eat. Big sign on the door of the gas station/convience store " No guns allowed". There was a Wards hamburger place next door, so we decided to eat there. Checked the door, no signs... but after we get in, there is a sign " No Firearms allowed "
Doesnt seem like a very gun-friendly area...

It's the middle of nowhere. Many stores and businesses have put them up around, mostly sheeple running them and responding in reactionary ways. Ironically, most the patrons are as red-state 2nd Amendment as you can get. All the Wards, as I can tell, have the signs. As a result, I don't go there. I buy at the places without them.

In the wake of a recent statute change and resulting lawsuit by some politicians, MS now has legal open carry w/o any permit. The state attorney general then opined that private businesses can post such signs to keep legal open carriers out, by use of the trespass laws rather than the gun law. Subsequently, a LOT of those signs have gone up. Ironically, it is still legal to open carry there, but the owner perhaps could press trespassing charges. However, a CCW license holder would also be breaking the concealed carry law if a sign is posted. To further complicate things, we also have an "enhanced" CCW license, which allows one to ignore the signs. I just ignore the businesses and spend my money elsewhere.

As with Arkansas,Mississippi is filled with confusion, due to these confusing, sometimes contradictory rulings. Both states can do a much better job of clarification for their citizens.

Shoes, shirts, cameras and recording devices

Some accessories such as clothing, can be required. Others can also be forbidden.

If the former can be legal, why not the latter?
