I should pick up my one-eared AUK fighter from Fuad on Tuesday. The AUKs are remarkably tough and Fuad and I have applied cheaters to try to break them.:D

This is the standard with cross guard (2 ears) that I had Fuad change to a one eared version.

I wish I had purchased one of his during that group buy way back, it is a sweet knife. Does it have ridges cut into the top of the handle like showing on part of the 2 eared knife?

Brian,

The lanyard hole isn't "low". They come centered, top corner and bottom corner on most knives. The "odd" lanyard hole position is the forward one near the guard. That was a development of the cutting competitions where they found that a forward hole helped keep the blade from swinging into the cutter if the handle was released.

Here's a different view Fuad sent to me. You can see the control point on the upper spine better as well as the nice sheath he made.

The knife is 10.25-in of differentially heat treated 0.25-in thick 5160 with a 5-in blade.

I think he's charging $350 for the standard ones.

AUK

Hi Guys,

I see HSO has put up some shots of one of my new AUK's. I had five prototypes of the new style water-jetted. HSO's single guard is the only one without a double guard, although I will make more. They are all sold, but I will be producing more in the future. I will also be making several more models of the AUK standard. You're getting a sneak peek at the knife that isn't on my site yet.

Cheers,
Fuad

Very nice knife. I prefer the single guard. It allows better positioning to use for multiple tasks. Also it doesn't scream tactical.

I'm surprised the filework isn't rough on your soft little hands.:D

Cheers,

ts

Tactical is going to have an article on Fuad's knives. My single guard will be featured as well as the double guard and the standard AUK that Al Thompson took to Iraq and used to pry doors open with.

I own the top and bottom knives and they're darn tough customers.
