Just an FYI to you guys.

We added a "black rifle" room to the PS90 forum. Come check us out!

I beg to differ with RMT . I do own a 15 , and everyone from glocktalk to the arf forums have specific info on them . We dont need a new class here . If the ar platform eats you up go to m4 or ar15 or name your forum. Its a fine weapon , which many of us enjoy , but not every forum needs a specific niche for it . THR imho stands above actions or brands, it is a true 2nd ammendment forum where we all meet and talk without regard to how our gun cosmeticly looks.

i agree. no need for weapon specific forums here. there would just bee too many sub forums.

if i want weapon specific info. il go to a weapon specific sight

Yes, 1/2 of the posts here are are for AR/AK/FAL type rifles...but I hate forums with too many subforums. It breaks up discussion and focus. These are rifles, and they fit here fine.

Also, in a way, it would be hypocritical for us to separate them from "regular" rifles, after all - aren't they the same in every way? A rifle is a rifle. We make the argument that they are no different, yet we like to separate them in discussion - why?

The volume of new threads isn't so great in this forum that is drowns out replies and dicussion. That happens in other forums. You post a thread, and within a couple of hours, it's on page 3 never to be seen again. That's not what THR is like. There's hardly a thread that doesn't go without reply here.

How about an AR-15/Mosin Nagant room. LOL ....what a room that would be eh?

we could ponder such great topics as "Slings: 3 point tactical Vs Dog collars" and whether 55gr's create enough "Cavitation" to be as effective as 180gr :neener:

I dunno. I don't see the benefit of a "Black Rifle" room on THR.

I'm the quinisential EBR owner, and I tend to gravite towards the forums that are EBR oriented. I'm a member of so many firearms forums that I've forgotten half of them. I regularly post here and on the Saiga forum, but go to the AKfiles, and SurplusRifles often.

Another forum has a way of dividing the community, to a degree. While I may not have a specific interest in someone's Marlin lever action, and they may have little interest in my AK, I do tend to read threads about rifles I don't have a particular interest in here. I am sure the Marlin guy does, too. That has a way of allowing those of particular subsets to learn more of other rifles that they'd not normally think about, and has a way of creating more cohesiveness rather than division.

Who knows... as I learn more, I may need to toss a lever rifle in my gun case!

The High Road is a great place for all lovers of firearms whether they are EBR owners or traditional sporter owners, hunters, or paper-punchers, competitors, or plinkers to all come together and share our interest, knowledge, and enthusiasm with each other.

Well, since there are so many black rifle owners, and this is a rifle sub-forum, then this is pretty much what you would expect I reckon..

My interests are mostly military rifles, but run the gamut from single shot 22s to 7.62x51 black rifles so I visit a lot of C&R forums, plus Jouster, FalFiles, AR15.com, etc. While sometimes, you want to discuss specifics in a specialized forum, one of the cool things about THR is one can go to one place to read threads on a diversity of topics. I think there is often a lot of cross platform info that can be gleaned in a thread about any rifle. There is a lot of good input folks can put in sometimes even if they don't own or like that particular gun. Things you'd miss in a subforum that don't get visited as much.

I find sometimes on a forum like Rimfire.com where it's very compartmentalized into different brands of rifles, it seems kind of constricting. I often like to visit and read threads in subforums for guns I don't own just to pick up on various techniques, ideas or opinions, but it still seems like the free exchange of ideas and experiences is hampered by that strict segregation.

All that's avoided here in the THR Rifle forum (and the general Handgun forum too). It's a much better place to share and learn from each other.

If one feels that they want to avoid a certain subject, they don't have to click on every thread. If you feel a certain subject isn't discussed enough, start a thread. Ask a question, share some info or posts some pics. :)

I do tend to read threads about rifles I don't have a particular interest in here.

Same here. I wasn’t even a "rifle guy" when I started on the forum. Now I really can’t wait to get my next one. Lever, bolt, semi, EBR, and single shot, I love ‘em all now. Celebrate diversity and keep them all equal in your eyes.

However, if this forum WAS more compartmentalized, I may have more money right now and not see so many holes in my collection.:neener:
