Obviously if you have a gun in the home you're more likely to use a gun to commit suicide than in a home without one. But are you more likely to commit suicide?
No. Following removal of guns from Toronto suicide rate by jumping went up sharply. Japanese suicide rate by jumping, wrist slashing et cetera is higher than US rate by guns. "Suicide by doctor" is 'way out of hand in Holland, as is "involuntary euthanasia".

(Off topic note, one of the Little Meeks recently visited Holland and declared it to be the cesspool of Europe, was really disgusted by it. Not so Belgium, which has a more 'reactionary' less 'liberal' government.)

The same thing happened in Australia with hanging.

Sorry, I should have known that but I just haven't kept up. I used to work with a guy who was really obsessive about keeping track of those numbers and very good about sharing, but we parted ways in the mid 90's.

Cool Breeze: Joyce Foundation threw some money into Milwaukee on the same sort of project a number of years ago. Money went to Froedtert Hospital e-room physician named Steve Hargarten and he partnered with the ex-Exec Director of Planned Parenthood/Milwaukee to spend it.

Generally, if it's MacArthur, Joyce, or Wood (J&J) money, it's anti-gun.

Geese figure out the dog trick and move, temporarily. Then the doggie goes home and the geese come back and multiply.

Actually, the geese are smarter than Harvard researchers.

Slow burn. :cuss:

So now we have to endure another round of agitation propaganda from all the NY Times - owned newspapers in the country. I just read an article on this in the local rag today, 5 gross errors before I stopped counting.

I'm thinking about dragging out my researcher hat and seeing if I can get some grant money to prove that eating unrefined feces will protect community leaders from gun related accidents. :neener:

What would you like to be other blissninny organizations populate his resume.

Now that he has outted gns as a health danger, whadday think his next book will cover? 5 gallon plastic pails, swimming pools, ladders?

The guy really has a plate full with all these other dangers.

Why 30,000 gun deaths year after year? Some are called murder and guess what, it's the illegal already. Other times it's called justifiable homicide. Bad people are shot in self defense. Really.

Gary, to start with, cut that number in half. About half the 'gun deaths' are suicides, of which the majority are elderly physically ill persons who lack any quick painless way of killing themselves or mentally ill persons who don't have access to lifesaving treatments such as long term hospitalization and ECT.
