Just got a new Bowie from Ray Laconico and had to brag a bit,

Blade steel: 5160, 1/4" stock
Blade length: 9 1/2"
Overall length: 15"
Handle: jet black ebony
Fittings: mild steel
Sheath: 8 layer leather

Have a good one,

nice looking knife. a little plain for my likeing. but im sure it works better than a flashyer looking one :).

daddy like

but then, daddy come from the minimalist school of tool aesthetics

(Plain = "it means business" = you're not afraid to uglify its delicate gold inlays doing actual work)

I'm not sure I'd call it a "bowie", but it's a heck of a nice looking knife. Where's the balance point?

About an inch in front of the guard hso,

So it handles well for a big knife. I wanted plain, hehe. I'll be using it, and ebony is as tough as it is black. Gonna snap some better pics before I take it camping at the end of April. Have a good'n.

All business; an object is most beautiful when it's most perfectly suited to its function, and that looks very well suited to many of them. The simple sweep of the edge is lovely.

Very Nice

That is one of the best looking knives I have ever seen. Do you mind letting us know how much you paid?

Nice......

5160 is very underrated as a knife steel. Tough as hell and holds an edge rather well if it's tempered correctly.

There's a reason they use it to make leaf springs and lawnmower blades. It don't break easy.

Ray makes some nice stuff. Those hollow handled models he's been making lately are really nice.

I'll bite. Why not? Lack of the clip?

Rb is right, Ray is cooking. Here's his gallery,

Sorry GLM, can't do that, but I can tell you it was a very fair price. ACP230, Ray isn't taking orders to my knowledge, just making spec knives he enjoys. I found his work for sale on Blade Forums http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/

Look under Knife Maker's Forums/Knife Makers for Sale Area

One of his hollow handle survival knives went in 12 minutes today, heheh. His work is well respected over there. I love Blade Forums for buying knives. You can find everything from master smith's forged show pieces to a beginner's first grind. Also check out The Knife Exchange forum. There's deals on both Custom Knives (Individuals) and Production pieces from folks liquidating from their collection. Beware! Once you find a deal, it's an addiction. But shooters know that already, don't we?
