So a few months back I purchased a RIA / Armscor Officer's model 1911 stripped frame, figured I could build a nice little CCW on it, turns out it was a smart move on my part. Frame was pretty inexpensive, only about $60, after adding new parts and some spare Wilson Combat parts I'm in this for about $175 total.

Spent many nights filing, fitting, sanding, and test firing, then after a good sand blast I got over to the smith with the hot blue tanks, and I got lucky, he had switched mediums and had a glass bead setup, so the parts got a nice smoother finish.

- Most of the edges I beveled, slide stop looks almost melted...
- 3.5" stainless steel bull barrel in .45ACP with a W/C link/pin
- Wilson Combat hammer, high ride beavertail, sear, sear spring & trigger which makes for a nice smooth 3lb trigger pull (measured at 2.93lbs)
- thin profile cocobolo DD grips with stainless hex screws/bushings
- Novak's low profile custom carry White Ring Tritium night sights
also bought a few 6 round Mec-Gar magazines. It's a nice little brother for my full size Government frame 1927 Sistema.

Such happiness. God Bless the 2nd Amendment.

Around $175, frame, slide, barrel were purchases, the rest of the parts I have from a bulk buy many years back, so their cost is negligent considering I've sold off some parts to pay the cost.... everything else is just gravy

...of course you could add in my time spent, and the beer for my 'smith friend for letting me add my parts to the tank while he was blueing... so there's always cost.

Still a great build for not a lot of money. I'd love to do this, but I'm not knowledgeable enough yet. Let us know how it shoots!

That is a beautiful little piece. It always feels nice to have something come together that you work with your own hands.

Take that puppy to the range and let us know how it does.

Nice! I think you may have a little niche industry. Every few months throw one of those on the market and make a nice little profit, given the general cost of 1911's nowadays. AND I would have to be one of the first in line!

I keep seeing all of this 'how does it shoot'.... what are you folks, nuts? Shoot the guns? Do you really do that?? :D

All kidding aside, it shot fine on FMJ and JHP rounds before the blast & blue, I've yet to feed a round through it with the new blueing on. I have to take it to Gander Mtn. first to see what they would offer me as my own way to get a value placed on the gun. THEN I'll go put some rounds through, already have a spare recoil spring assy, and lug for the 500 round swap-out. Oh and that lug is just a standard reverse lug but it has a bit of meat at the top to fill in the gap for the bull barrel, don't recall the maker though.

Very nice! I find myself being somewhat jealous. What was your address again?????:D
I hope it shoots as good as it looks. Nice job!

"I've yet to feed a round through it with the new blueing on."

Do check it out. I had a gun bead blast blued and he roughened up the rails to the point of malfunctions from short recoil caused by friction. Had to have the gunsmith refit and lap in the rails.

Do be careful of biscuitninja's bright idea. The feds think you ought to pay them for a license to produce or modify guns for resale.
