Just getting to meet our new neighbors. Just love meeting people who like cannons. Seems like there's a few of 'um here in Tennessee. Anyway, he and his Wife immediately invited me and my Wife over for BBQ steak. Talking about each others hobbies I mentioned I had a thing for making cannons, my own BP and shot. Turns out he really wanted a small cannon for years. So I made him this. I know there is not a single proportion that's correct but its super safe and makes a really nice bang! DSC_0547.JPG

Now that is way too cool!

Seems we have plenty of people from less than cool with that states who'd not invite you back over. But then they'd not smoke your steak either. LOVE me some smokes steak and burgers! Oh, and a cannon would be cool if for nothing else but the 4th and the almost 1st!

Caliber... YUP! IT's got one! I just grabbed the first long bit that was near my lathe. I think it was about .65" ish. It's the darn carriage's that have the lions share of the work. So I cheated! The wheels are just metal $3 castors and a scrap piece of flat stock. Add some bad welding and paint and Tada!

A little TaDa and a lot talent with some savvy thrown in .

Where's the trigger??

Just kidding! Not bad for a home job. Not bad at all! You are a better welder than I am!

Have you ever gotten into anvil shooting? I live in the boontoolies in SW WA and have a neighbor who is licensed pyrotechnician that does this.

Jim

I would love to try this! I have everything but the anvils. Love the history behind this and everything about it. Thanks for sharing!
