Wow! I just came home from my wife's parent's house and I'm sitting here just staring at the knife my father in law gave me for Christmas. Among the shirt, shoe, pants, and sweater boxes there was a long narrow box that just HAD to contain a knife...and a big one too! I opened the box to find a Buck sheath knife which was supposedly their submission for a new military blade.
It was not selected as the new issue knife so AG Russell bought them and is selling them at a great price. I don't know which knife WAS selected, but it would have to be some blade indeed to best what I'm staring at right this second.
Definately not anything like my old Kabar! Two-tone Kraton handle and a 6.25 inch razor sharp blade 0.25 inch thick at the widest point! THIS is a heavy duty knife. Great sheath too. It's hard to get this grin off my face!:p

I got an interesting knife from my wife. A benchmade pre-production 06xx/1000 Osborne 943S black MCP. Sweet folder. Supposedly the sales guy at the gun store told her since it is a numbered pre-production model it would be worth more than she paid for it.
I really like this knife. Sypderco in the left pocket. Benckmade in the right. :D

I just got a Kabar Warthog and I really like it. Definitely a well named knife. Kydex sheath is fairly neat also.

My girlfriend bought me the Spyderco Delica stainless that I wanted to replace the one I lost. My brother was given a Steyr M40 buy his wife, gotta get the GF on that program.:D

WOW Tamara!!

WHAT a beaut!! A "recurved" blade too. Must cut like a dream. Tell me, please. What handle did you pick?
Do you use the hole in the pommel end? Is it a smooth pommel, or does it have "teeth"? :)
If I had one of those babies, I'd keep it in the sheath with a lanyard affixed to something (when I fly) to make damn SURE I didn't loose it if I ever had to use my parachute again.
Beautiful cutter!!! It's nice to have members who appreciate fine knives too. <smile on face>

Oleg: What a wonderful site!! Thank you!

I got the green linen micarta. The pommel is nice & rounded.

It was the knife Kim Breed used to do the review for Blade magazine. It went through the usual hell he puts test knives through with no evident damage; stout knife indeed.

I got it for slightly less than one third of MSRP, too! :D

the osborn is a nice knife

the benchmade preproduction models (they make a ton of them) seldom command any premium over the regular models.

Tamara...

Would you be allowed to tell me how in the world you purchased that beautiful knife for "less than one third of MSRP"?!? (Or, would you have to kill me then?:p )
As far as the handle goes, you picked good! I've ALWAYS liked Micarta very much. The first time I tried it was on the Buck Gent. (I think that's what it was called.)
Anyway, it was purchased on our honeymoon 26 years ago. The Micarta scales still look good. They've aged better than I have. :)

I happened to be around when Mr. Breed was unloading some test blades.

(The manufacturers usually don't want them back after he's put them through the wringer. Go figure! ;) )

From past experience, it seems that Mr. Breed has difficulty saying no to Tamara. ;)

So, is that a Nighthawk?

Don,

Truthfully?

At the recent knife show in Pigeon Forge, my landlord (a perv... er, purveyor of fine blades in his spare time) set up a table. I went along to help, and Mssr. Breed showed up to put some of his customs on the table as well as sell off some stuff he had lying around. My landlord saw the Puffin lying on the table and started waxing rhapsodic about it, with Mr. Breed agreeing wholeheartedly. I noticed the $75 price tag dangling off of it, and (realizing that my friend was about to talk himself into buying it), snatched it up for myself. My landlord is a knife snob and doesn't get worked up over much; anything he got that visibly excited over must have been worth buying. ;)
