This one started out as my loaner rifle, a standard SS M700 .300WM ADL Synthetic from the 90s that I'd lend out or take on trips as a back-up. Over the years it's had work done, to include the latest re-barreling and restocking. It's now my idea of "a perfect anything in NA rifle cause I'm too old to carry my 10+lb 26" barreled, wood stocked, 8x68S Steyr Mannlicher around anymore".

I wasn't looking to put together a for a long range rig, just a "man portable" (older gentleman portable?) weather resistant, accurate mid-range rig.

Work completed (so far, but I'm out of ideas and money :():

Action blue printed
Badger M16 Extractor
External Bolt Release
Re-barreled with a stainless 24" Bartlein 5R 2B profile with 3/4" shank in... wait for it .300WM (again), but shorter throat/leade
Manners EH3 Carbon Fiber stock with Swiss Arca plate installed
Bolt fluted
Bolt handle skeletonized
Trigger Tech Remington "Special" set at 2Lbs
Graphite Black CeraCote

Stripped, 6lbs 15.9 Ounces. Balance is just slightly FWD of the magazine. The 2B is slightly larger than a Rem Magnum Sporter profile. Stuck with the 300WM cause I've got competition dies, brass etc. Also it's available (for now) over the counter in lots of places.

With Talley LW one piece rings and Leupold VX6HD3-18x56 8lbs 10ounces, just a few ounces over what I was trying for. Now I just need some time for barrel break in and load development.

Great looking rifle build

300 WM is a little more rifle than I need, but I like what you did to that one. That should be enough weight to shoot comfortably without being excessive to carry.

That's what I was trying to get to. Previously it had the older Remington synthetic stock and bare rifle was about 8lbs, all up it was over 10lbs. I know what you mean about the 300WM, but I convince myself I will load it down to 06-08 levels.. But with Nolser 168 ABLRs, it does make a decent back-up rig when we head west chasing open country deer.

Very nice! I don't usually like all black but that one.....yeah i dig it

IF you look real close, it's got tiny orange flakes/streaks in the stock.. like it's little brother:

So "technically, not all black..:D

What kind of tripod is that? Have never used one before, but the older I get the more they make sense.

Shadow Tech:

with this head: https://stores.hogsaddle.com/gnn-xb-44dl-ball-head/

About 6lbs "all up" and capable of supporting 24lbs. Small enough to pack in strapped to a backpack. Like anything else, it's one more thing to practice with.

I've also got their Hog saddle, but the Arca plates clamped in are more stable and a much lighter option. I also have a small bag (2nd picture) with Gitlite fill that is pretty quick just to toss on the head for support, and it weighs ounces.
