As if getting a Ruger Blackhawk this week wasn't enough, I picked up a CZ-52 yesterday at Surplus City. I couldn't help it. I've been wanting one for awhile and the price was right ($119). As usual, this one came with a well-used leather holster, cleaning rod, spare mag, and a lanyard. It was made in 1954 and arsenal refurbished at some point before being surplussed off and imported by Century.

And here's a closeup of some of the ammo I got with it. It's 1955-vintage Bulgarian 7.62x25. Corrosive, for sure.

I know there's a bad batch of 1952 Bulgarian 7.62x25 out there, but is anyone aware if other lots of Bulgie ammo are dangerous? TIA.

Nice CZ!

Make sure you check the decocker on these: Take a pencil and drop it down the barrel of the *unloaded* pistol. Now point the muzzle up (and in a safe direction) and decock it by pushing the safety all the way up until the hammer drops. The pencil should not move.

If the pencil moves, it will fire if you decocked it on a live round.

DMK, thanks for the decocker tip. I did this last night and it passed (pencil did not move), but it's worth bringing up for anybody else who reads the thread.

You have a place called Surplus City?! Awesome!! :D

"Guns" magazine just started a series of articles on Surplus Arms, it's going to either make me wish for a gun shop called Surplus City to open here or push me to finally get my C&R license!
