Visited my local gun store today and was intrigued by a couple new offerings. One was a 22lr similar to my 527 carbine and labeled 'Farmer'. Shouldered nicely with the curved stock. The other is a 22WMR semiauto I hadn't seen before.

CZ's just speak to me, can't help it.

That "Farmer one might be something made for a special distributor run, haven't heard of that one. Sounds very cool, love my 527M carbine! I'll ask the Powers That Be about it.
The semi-auto is probably the new CZ 512. It is a very interesting rifle, with a half poly, half steel receiver, twin recoil springs, and a trigger that takes a wee bit of break in. :) I like the one we have in 22lr.

Still breaking mine in - 50 yards with irons.

I have a CZ512 in 22lr and really like it. Trigger was very gritty when new, but I followed a post on RFC and polished the internals and it is much better now. The stock is well suited for scope mounting and mine wears a leupold 2-7x. Accuracy is very good, averages 1" at 50yds with cheap bulk. Got a few sub .5" groups yesterday with cci sv.

From what I've read the 22 mag models are pretty hard to find.

Had a 513 once......would not do it again.....

452 is the way to go instead of a 513. A 453 or 455 would also work.

Son has a 452 Scout, and I've fired it too, smoooooth little rifle. Haven't tried a 455.
The 513 is the bare bones basic CZ 22lr, good beginning, but easier to upgun to a 455.

Can you lock the bolt open on the 512? I handled one yesterday and couldn't figure it out if you could.

Yes, the bolt locks back in a similar manner to a 10/22 with a tab on the trigger guard. It releases when the handle is pulled back a la a 10/22 w an auto bolt release.
