New Dan Wesson CCO Bob thoughts? First 1911?

Can anyone say they have held or fired both the CCO bob (forged alumn) vs Vbob (forged steel) and say there was a noticeable difference. Of course the weight will be different but is it worth the extra $$$?

The new CCO bob only comes in the black duty finish....but I think I like the SS finish better on the Vbob. Also the Vbob has a nicer beavertail.

You don't like the SS finish. Trust me.

The SS finish is only there for those who plan on customizing thier 1911 then getting it refinished in black later. Or you could buy a beadblaster cabinet and blast it every other month.

Or if you want a gun that looks awsome sitting in a felt lined box. But even that may scratch it. Don't get me wrong it looks great. But it wears quickly.

Mine has a ton of holster wear. The bead blasted finish wears smooth really quick. No real scratches or dings yet, just smooth spot type scratches. I'm going to get mine hardhatted. I just have to finish swapping my sights out first. The $300 price difference between SS and duty treat Valors will go a long ways towards refinishing.

Allmost done building up my DW V.

We will soon have the new 25 ounce (unloaded) Dan Wesson ECO to drool over.

CCW or Range. Select accordingly. I often worry about an alloy frame 45 and yet I have about 5 thousands plus rounds through my poly 3" 45 carry gun and it still shoots exactly where I point it.

Pleased with my earlier DW 1911's. :)

I have three DW's (Pointman7, guardian 9mm and CCO). All three are extremely well made, reliable and accurate. I bought each with a specific purpose in mind. The pointman for range use and the other two for carry. I tend to carry the guardian more than the CCO because it fits my beefy hand better and, for me, is more manageable. If I could change anything about the CCO it would be to replace the chain link front strap to a checkered one. For your stated purpose (home defense/range use) I would recommend commander to full sizes options. I believe the pointman has been discontinued but any of the other offerings from DW are excellent choices IMHO.
