I say go with the Oracle, it should be lighter for hunkering through the woods.

Why not the 308L? It is the lightest of the DPMS LR group and has the best trigger.

Deer rifle right ? Buy a bolt rifle for 1/3rd the money and put some real nice glass on it and have enough money still for ammo. Even the average bolt rifle will shoot as good or better than the ar's and could be much lighter too. You also don't get many chances at fast second shoots so work on a good first shot.

Thanks gents. Let's see. I already have 2 each 30-30, a model 70 (.308), and a BLR lightning in .300 WSM, this is an opportunity granted by the family comptroller to fulfill a long time 'want' as opposed to a need.

I'm a huge fan of the AR style rifle, I shoot them well, and have a decent amount of experience with them, so I thought I would acquire one for woods duty.

Bolts may be more accurate, but not to a significant degree over a quality AR. At least not as far as deer hunting goes.

Zane: Great call but, too much $$ for now.

Sorry to spin you all up, but I found a RRA LAR-8 at a great price.:D Thanks for participating.
