Buck has released the 110 & 112 with drop point blades instead of clip point.

Comes with leather sheath.

They don't have the nail nick... I wonder why.

Personally I prefer drop point over clip point so I'm interested... but I greatly appreciate having one handed opening of which this doesn't have.

Which reminds me, @hso , do you have a recommendation of an effective yet simple way to add a one hand opening addon to blades with out it?

I don't use the nail nick to open either my 110 or 112. Pinch the blade between the thumb and fore finger with the tip pointing up, flick the wrist quickly downward, the handle should open far enough to lock open. You may have to work a new one enough to loosen it up a bit.

The shorter 112 has a nick, but the longer 110 probably just doesn't need one with the drop point.

And list for $4 more.

I definitely want the drop point versions. May have to put the clip point in the knife drawer when I find one.

The drop point is definitely preferable for a hunting knife IMO.

Personal preference in the end.

It is interesting to see how design preferences change over the years. The clip point was the American twist on the blade patterns out of Sheffield, and the preferences of the buying public now are returning to the spear point where it all started.

I have always liked the spear or dropped point designs, with one exception: Swiss Army Knife blades should always be evidently asymmetrical so there is no question which edge is safe, and which way the blade will move to fold. The current design, though slightly asymmetrical, still leads to confusion more than it should.
