I saw one in the "Guns for 2004" in a Gun Mag last night.I had talked to Robinson Arms (Importer of the Vepr) about a year ago and they were trying to clear these for import. In any event this magazine listed EAA as the importer, showing a photo. It is a "conventional" appearing 223/7.62 semi auto rifle, magazine fed with wood stock. It is not a futuristic battle rifle.I was interested a year ago and more interested now.
Anyone know more?
Thanks

Hmmm - there's nothing on the EAA website about it, even in the "what's New" section. A quick Google search didn't turn up anything, either.

Do you remember who makes it or it's country of origin? I love .223 autoloaders, so I'm curious, too. EAA stuff is often very inexpensive but high quality (the Witness line, SAIGA rifles, etc.)

This was their response this am:
"all will be posted on our web sight in the near future "

I wonder if they have the RPG receiver. If so,they will be 8-9 lbs,I am afraid.I owned the Vepr 223 and although well made,it was HEAVY!

I thought Robinson had the import contract with Molot

EAA was the Izhmash importer

We designed HUNTER model to meet requirements of European hunters for 100% reliable fast handling and powerful rifle. VEPR HUNTER provides semi automatic firepower with very acceptable accuracy. One-piece stock made of selected Turkish walnut. Rifles available with two variants of front sight. Side fastening of the scope mount is the best way to mount the scope on Kalashnikov based rifle. And, of course, HUNTER based on the same time proven RPK receiver as all the rifles under the VEPR trademark.

Available in .308Win and .30-06 Spr. calibers

MOLOT is also making the Super in .223!:

45R, as a long time Vepr owner, and heavy duty user, I would take the Vepr over the Mini any day of the week. Especially since normal capacity magazines are not even a possibility for you guys anymore.

Definitely looks like an AK, doesn't it?

Although I'd be interested in how they redesigned the safety to work under the wood stock, looks like the actuator is by the trigger guard.

I've never used the Pioneer, but on the Super Vepr it has been changed over to a push button safety above the trigger guard. Very nice actually.

The Pioneer is supposed to have a no-flex receiver. Don't know what they mean by that. The VEPR rifles all have the RPK style receiver. I don't know if the Pioneer has a stiffer receiver, or if that's what they're talking about.

The VEPR rifles are very nice, but HEAVY.

I hate to drag up an old post but has anyone heard any further details about this rifle? I'm still interested.
Saiga has a rifle on its website called the Saiga 100 that looks alot like it (w/synthetic stock) but has very little info other than that.
Thanks.
