I'm complained here in the past about how unreliable my Witness-P Compact .40S&W is, so I thought I mention it seems Tanfoglio is trying to do something about it.

At todays gun show I looked at a Steel Frame Wonder Finish, and Elite Match both in .40S&W and noted both mags now have spacers rivited in front to keep the shorter .40 rounds from moving forward under recoil.

I was tempted by the Elite Match as they are sweet guns for the price, but decided to take advantage of the buy a S&W M&P AR rifle and get a Sigma pistol for $99 offer. I've had my eye on an M4-gery with detachable carry handle for some time now, and this offer made me take the plunge.

How about trying a new Wolf extra power spring to see if that helps. The springs in the Tangoglio pistols are not that good quality wise. I replaced the springs in 3 magazines for my 10mm Wonder Witness because of weak springs. While I was at it I replaced the recoil & firing pin springs, no more probems.

The target models are build lighter and do not hold up with hot loads from what I have read on a couple other forums. The witness models are however built like tanks and have heavy frames. Not sure if the frames are cast or forged steel, but the lugs where the slide and frame hit are lot larger then on my S&W 1006 (10mm) hog leg.

Use the search, I've been through the details a lot, stronger magazine springs are not the solution to the .40 S&W round in what was basically designed to be a 10mm magazine.

The spacer should be the solution.
