My brother had one in .45 cal about 15 years ago , I took the plug out of the back end and turned down a peice of bar stock to take its place.
Then i bored a chamber in it and pinned and welded it in place, then
modified the firing pin and took a dremel tool with a sanding drum and
put a bevel on both sides of the chamber . This made it were you could
pluck the cases out with your finger nails and had a fine shooting carbine in .45 long colt.

Long ago one of the gun hacks described H&R products as 'bottom of the duckboat tough'. That pretty much sums it up. You don't need to worry about scraping it up, getting it nasty, or the dog knocking it off in the bed of the pickup.

I've owned a few H&R products, mostly 999 revolvers and shotguns, always when I was too broke to hunt with anything else. I never was disappointed with the product, especially at the price back then, and they've sure earned their reputation as the Model T/ Timex of firearms.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Thanks for the help. If $199 sounds like a good price to you guys I will buy it. Are there any other muzzleloaders in this price range that are good buys?
