While I've been away at school my parents left NJ for KY(which was good)
problem is some of my camping/survival/SHTF stuff didn't make it. So since I have plenty of time I figured I'd ask for some opinions on what I should replace my knives with. I lost- my SAK which had lots of features which I liked but was a little big for the pocket and I use clip on knives now but had it with my gear.
a glock knife with the saw back and a marine style ka-bar

I was thinking of getting a ka-bar hunter(the big version of the littlefinn which I like) and a ka-bar marine style knife. Any ideas ? something else? should I replace the SAK?

With my years in the Army, presaged by years of being a kid who loved camping/exploring/etc, the one knife that always eluded me was an unbreakable Ka-Bar-sized knife that was also maintenance-free...I've got large blades by ABS Master smiths, been through more field-knife varieties than I'd care to admit.....several years back, heck, more than several, now, I bought a Mission Knives MPK Ti.....all the rest of the knives have since gone into retirement, as I have that unbreakable/care-free/Ka-Bar-size/weight knife.....

Everyone who carries or uses knives needs a SAK. My most useful SAK is way too big for my pockets (Locksmith Model). So, the SAK I carry daily is the Adventurer model which is a basic model like the Soldier except 111mm (the big size). I'm quite pleased with it.

KaBar's are good sturdy knives that work. Take a look at SOG products.

The SOG Gov-Tac is a sturdy design, an update of SOG's popular Government model that has been around for over 20 years now. It features a stainless blade and Kraton handle, and fills the same role as the Marine Ka-Bar, with more corrosion resistance.

For the smaller knives I'd recommend a Victorinox Farmer or Soldier, and some sort of Leatherman-style plier tool. Between these three knives you'll have most any situation covered that you will encounter.

Yes, you need another SAK. My favorites are the Huntsman and one hand Trekker models. Fixed blade? Can't go wrong with a Buck 119 "Special", Kabar, Fallkniven F1, but I have a BRKT Bravo 1 on the way that I can't wait to get.
