meytind,

The holster is stiff and a tight fit. It is not easy getting the gun out of the holster. I expect it to loosen up. I hope? Being a lefty, I had it made for a 4 oclock carry and it seems to feel good. I expect the leather to soften in time and lossen up some. We shall see.

Armoredman,

I agree with the engraving. It looks deep. I can't imagine that it will go away anytime soon. I am going to call them tomorrow. They close early. I was very disappointed to see that engraving. It ruined IMO a very sharp looking rig. I am embarrassed to say how much I paid for this holster to be made for my beautiful new CZ so I will be interested to see what they have to say about the engraving.

redarmy67,

Nice holster. The engraving would have bugged me too for a minute but it's IWB, no one is going to see it but you.

As for the tight fit, I've seen this recommended by several holster manufacturers:

Carefully unload the weapon and wrap it with 2 layers of wax paper (with the wax to the outside), and seat it fully into the holster. Let it sit overnight. Next, work the weapon in and out of the holster a few dozen times. Remove the paper and try it. If it is still too tight, then repeat the process with 3 layers of wax paper. Continue until you get it close to the desired fit (be sure not to overdo it - it is rather difficult to un-stretch leather). Discard the paper and do a few dozen practice draws. The holster should now be sufficiently broken in to allow you to wear it and finalize the break in process. This is done by repeatedly drawing the weapon while the holster is actually being worn. Be advised that a properly broken-in holster should retain the weapon during vigorous physical activity, yet still release the firearm for a smooth draw.

I've heard great things about Fist holsters, and your pics just uphold what I've heard. That's a beautiful well-made holster - congrats!

Yes, I'm sure you paid good money for that holster, and personally, the chicken scratch on it would bug the sh*t out of me. I'd call and ask for another one. Just me.

I think your holster looks great. Remember, this is an IWB holster. The engraving is on the body side of the holster and the only one that will most likely ever see it is you. As that holster wears, I think it will look even better.

In 20 years when you want to order another one, you will know what model and manufacturer the holster is from. Additionally, in 40 years, your kids and grandkids won't need to post a picture on the internet trying to get somebody to identify your holster they found in a box in the attic.

Huh. thats a dealbreaker to me. Its not an inexpensive holster, I dont like that engraving one bit.

How you guys think FIST compares to Hazel or HBE? Those are my go-to CZ holster guys.

straight shooter,

thanks for the tips. I will work with it over the next couple of weekends.

Overall, I am very pleased with the look and quality of this holster.

I take it that you have seen this engraving on some or all of your holsters you have bought from fist? They are on the east coast and they close early. I keep forgetting to call to ask them about it. I dont think I will press the issue. I am curious to see what they say.

I have a fist holster it is a good holster. Mine was also very tight when I got it. I wrapped it in a few plastic grocery bags put in in the holster wore it around the house for a few days and it was just about right. I actually picked my fist up for $35. I think the guy sold it because it was so tight.

As to the markings on it, the thing is made go INSIDE your pants I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Fists are super durable and no the engraving is not going to go away.
