New G21 arrived yesterday

Well my new to me G21 was picked up yes terday. Took the drive to Farmington and picked her up. We loaded up kids, guns dogs and wives and hit the range. The recoil of a big Glock is something different after 20+years of a 1911, but no where even close to unpleasent. Took a mag or two get the feel of her but after that the center of targets ceased to exist!! Cope at RoSS Sporting Goods did his usual good work and even talked me in to a set of Mepro Lights for my wive's G19. His reasoning is any wife that tells her husband to go and BUY a gun needs a thank you gift.
The newest member of the family is a G21 and loking up it's serial number it was built in Dec 1992. For being 14 years old there is not a scratch on it and it came in the original box. Looks like it was just made in December 2005!! I like the 2nd generation much better, but it may be going back to Ross's for his famous grip reduction, but I need a few more mags through it.

I'll post some pics later tonight if I am not called back to work.

Check 2C if the breechface is cut @ 90* or 15*. If you have the 90* cut, then you need to send the G21 back to Glock for the free breechface cut/slide refinishing. (Also probably needs to have some firing mechanism parts replaced.)
 
About the extra mags. ,you might buy, older glocks have a" half moon "semi circle on the front lower part of the front side of the grip I'am not certian if newer style mags. will work. Anyway check it out before you buy.
 
He didn't mention anything about needing extra mags, but if he does, they're available @ around $16 or so, for 13-rd. mags. Any G21 mag of any build date will fit any G21 or any G30.

Thanks, I'll call Glock and give them the serial # .

The original mags where of the insert swrewdriver and pry sort!!:), We tossed in new mags out of a 3rd Gen and perfect it and cycling.

soft shooting gun, and very accurate. it will be more reliable than your 1911.
my g21 sure is more reliable than my 1911. i guarantee it :)
 
Ok, I know I have posted this before, but in 1996 I bought a G21 (Long story short) JUST because the salesman was a jerk ! (And I bought it from the OTHER salesman behind the counter).

Now I have had this G21 for a long while now, and (Forgive me Arts G'Maw) I have put it through hell! I strongly advise that no one treat any firearm like this, but I have dropped the G21 through ice into a creek, lost it in snow banks, had it fall out of the holster on gravel roads while riding a MC, or ATV, and lost it in the briars once from horse back. (And yes, I finally did get a "Retention" holster for it.rather then the "belt-slide" :D ) I never bothered to read the owners manual for about the first year, and shot 600-800 rnds. of my LEAD RELOADS through it! (untill I discovered that such practice was BAD, and could be harmfull) For the first 4 years, the only cleaning the pistol recieved, was every 200-400 rnds, I cleaned the barrel, and used the air-compresser to blow out the "innards". I have left the original 13 rnd mag loaded since I bought the pistol (except when shooting it of course.) Thats a heck of a lot of rounds over the years.

This last Sunday, 1-15-06 the G21 was used at the range for 200 rnds of 230gr hardball, emptied 23 rnds 200gr Cor-Bon,and 1/3 each of 3 boxes of new 200gr Cor-Bon (The rest loaded into mags for HD). This has been the standard practice for the G21 every other week since I purchased it (not counting any "informal" range time, or backyard shooting done).

I am in NO WAY, a Glock fanatic, and I have never purchased another Glock since, but I kinda gotta' say THIS G21 has never let me down.

I'll point out again, NO ONE should EVER intentionally abuse ANY firearm, but I will note, most of the abuse that this pistol has suffered, was unintentional, other then the VAST STUPIDITY of not reading the manual, and firing lead reloads.

10+ years and counting, this G21 is still my "house/nightstand gun". I have never owned a .45 that was as "soft" shooting, and reliable as this G21 (unless I was to buy another G21, and I really see no point, as this one is doing just fine.)

As always, FWIW, and YMMV, just my opinion.

If you do decide to go with the grip reduction please post some pics. I'd really like to see some examples of good reduction work, most everything I've seen looks like some 12 year old with a blow torch and a beltsander went to town on a somebodys glock.

Tell Cope I sent ya. Sometimes it takes a couple of days for him to get to get to your weapon, he has at least 5-6 come in every day so he is to say th eleast busy, but he doesn't rush em out. He did his wife's G19 and my wife wants' it done to her G19. SHe wanted to exchange the frame for the new OD green one, but I told that is getting a bit carried away!
