I am thinking about removing the stock (Uncle Mikes) boot grip that came with my S&W 242 38 spl +p revolver. I have a bunch of Pachmayer Gripper grips in sizes J, K, L. Anybody have experience with these grips and are they more effective in reducing percieved recoil than the Uncle Mikes grips?

Hmmm, my 242 has very little recoil compared to the 296 .44. The stock grips help conceal it's L frame size (hint). The Factory grips are based on Craig Spegel boot grip design, and although a compromise for concealment, they work pretty well in the control dept.

I've seen people put tamer grips from larger s&w revolvers on guns like this (more specificly with the 296) but I think this might be a little over kill even for this revolver, the pachmayr grips should do fine
