I bought a used 686-6 last fall. It came with Hogue Bantam grips which is probably what it shipped with. I have been wanting to dress it up a bit and came across a set of Pachmyer Renegade Laminated wood grips on Ebay for only $31.10, shipped. They have a really nice finish, good checkering and fit the gun very well with no gaps. I like the way they look, but they are a bit too bulky for my small/medium sized hands. I'll have to see how they shoot for a final verdict

5369624_01_smith_wesson_686_snub_357_640.jpg It looks like yours don't belong. They look bulky, and worse, they look plastic. It'd be one thing if they fit you but the don't? Check Altamont grips.

Edit: pic above isn't Altamont, but my idea of what could be on that 686. Good luck!

Yep, should have got Altamonts. Have also had good luck with some of the grips on ebay that are made in Thailand, but I didnt want to wait 3 weeks for them to get here. These would work nice for someone with big hands

The Hogue Bantams came standard on new J and L frame snubs for a while. You can tell because the grips came with the S&W logo on them like yours have. They're probably the only rubber grips I ever liked. All the Hogue Bantams that were not factory installed on Smith's are badged Hogue. I had a 686 like yours. Nice gun but pretty heavy.

The bantam grips are very comfortable

Those Pachmayr Renegade grips remind me of their Compac grips. I also have small hands and on some revolvers they felt way too big and bulky. You might want to check out Kim Ahrends grips. Well designed and well made grips at a decent price.

The grips don't cover enough of the trigger guard thus, promoting "knuckle busting".

I prefer something that keeps my middle finger out from behind the trigger guard.

Nice revolver! The grips are a bit bulky for me, Im not the biggest guy out there so I’m more of a Pachmayr Compac Professional grip user... but if they fit your hands and conceal well for you then you did just fine .

Stay safe!
