If you've seen my other posts and pictures of my gun collection, you'll know I'm into mil-surps and modern military semi-auto rifles.
Over the last couple of weeks I've "fallen" into some good deals on long guns that aren't my usual cup of tea. I ran across an FN PBR XP on this forum a few weeks back. Excellent transaction (thanks Agent Smith) and it was even the right color (OD green) to match an extra scope I had. ;D
It's a FN Patrol Bolt Rifle XP, 24" fluted barrel, detachable mag. 7.62x51mm. Burris Tactical 3-9X scope, Burris tactical rings.
I took it out soon after I got it and shot it with the loads that are very accurate in my M1A. This gun didn't like IMR 4895 so I loaded up a range of Varget with some 168 gr Sierra Match Kings.
Took the rifle out today and it did....OK.
I think I can accept that kind of accuracy.
Then a few days ago, I stopped by a local pawn shop that usually just has crap on the wall, but saw a shiny O/U shotgun. I asked the owner (nice young guy) what it was...he says its a Beretta Silver Pigeon. My jaw dropped...this is my dream shotgun. He was selling it for a friend who then donates the money to his church mission work...apparently he does this every year. The price was reasonable (about $600 less than a new one) and it ended up going home with me.
It is a 12 ga Silver Pigeon III with 26" barrels. The owner had it backbored and factory ported. I took it to the range today range today and ran part of box through it...holy crap what a nice shot gun. Recoil was almost non-existent even though it is much lighter than my Spanish Lanber O/U. Beretta makes and extremely lively gun...I busted a lot more clays than I usually do...I think it's a keeper too.
Now I gotta figure out which guns to sell to finance these.
