I picked up this SW .44magnum "Bounty Hunter" today.Nice used condition with Box,3 speed loaders, galco holster, and a box of ammo for $500.
Any opinions for those who have owned/shot this model?Any recommendations for a different grip(s)for it?
It is somewhat of a handfull as I have small hands and will likely only be shooting it 2 handed.

PRETTY. You got a good deal. The first thing I thought was 'sweet grips' but I guess if they were too big I'd change them too.

The smallest rubber grips I have used are the Hogue Mono-grips. I think the Pach's that you have on it are a hair bigger than the Hogue's and the standard Sq butt wood grips bigger than both of th rubbers.

Looks perfect as is. :) Pachmayr grips are some of the best. You would probably be disappointed with anything else.

What type of holster came with the deal?

BTW, EXCELLENT deal.

Nice! I bought one new last year! :)
The S&W M29 "Bounty Hunter" is a real blast to shoot!

I put a set of Ahrends cocobolo grips on it a few months ago...I finally tried them out last weekend with half a box of Remington UMC 180gr.....well let me just say, my new Hogue mono-grips arrived today and are going on tomorrow!

Sharp looking gun.
New gun followed me home
Its like going to a pet store. That pretty revolver looks up at you with those sad eyes and begs you to let it come home with you. And you cant help yourself, you let it and give a nice new home.

It is a galco leather holster designed for a 4" bbl.If fits fine but I will look arouind for some different ones.I prefer IWB carry but that may not be feasable with the size of the cylinder.
It doesent feel natural to me.I am not used to the large frame. All of my revolvers are somewhat smaller.I may sell it but I will wait until I shoot it to pass judgement.

Wow! From looking at the picture that MrBill120 posted, that's not a hand gun it's a FLAME THROWER... I want one too...

Seems similar to my 329NG which has a 2.5" bbl. I have no issue with the recoil. It gets your attention but I don't find it punishing. I wouldn't call it a range gun however. It's designed to be carried a lot and fired little.

Usually generates interest at the range, however.

I just got a holster made for the 2.5" from

http://www.rgrizzleleather.com

It's rather tight but will loosen up. It holds close to the body. I also have the Galco made for the 4" and it's not bad, but I don't need the extra length.
