We will soon have CCW in our county (Missouri) and I decided to try out the Glock 36. It's the first gun I have purchased with CCW in mind.
I went with Glock for a simple (in my mind) reason....they go bang when you pull the trigger and do so accurately.

I just picked it up today. I've not shot one, but have fondled several and have owned 7-8 Glocks in the past. I'm down to a 21, 22 and this 36.

It's a good fit in my hand....even with the standard 6 round magazine cofiguration. After picking up the gun, I stopped an bought two Pierce magazine extensions and installed them on both magazines to give me 7 + 1 capability.

Tonight I'm going to send a few rounds down range. Even with large hands, this gun fits great!

If I like it 1/2 as much as I like my G-21, I'm gonna be a happy camper! I traded in my G-24...I just never shot it as much as I had planned...it was time to move it on out.

I really hate the guns that share names with really cool machineguns. Every time I see a G36 or P90 I keep thinkin "Cool! someone is gonna get to play with something neat!"

Then Glock or Ruger comes up and I'm disappointed :uhoh:

Sorry to burst your bubble...

Actually, I have a C&R and can legally own a machine gun here in Missouri...just have not been lucky enough to have the "scratch" lying around to buy one! If I ever do buy one, it will most likely be an Uzi since they are the most affordable (if you call "thousands" affordable!!)

I've shot one a few times....and they ARE very cool toys.

We just shot my sons G36. Hold on with both hands the first time you shoot it.

krept,
Thanks...I managed to send a couple mags down range tonight when I got home...it's a nice gun. Certainly plenty of knockdown power!
I'll shoot it more next week. This weekend I'm turkey hunting!!! Gobble Gobble!

gbourne,
Oh yes, I'm a two handed shooter all the time...unless I'm practicing one handed shooting. I can't imagine shooting any handgun w/out a steady double handed grip...it had more felt recoil than my G-21....but I expected it due to the mass/weight difference. I am looking forward to some real target shooting next week.

Here's a photo with the Pierce extended magazine base (+1).

VonFatman, I've found the G-36 to be very handy for CCW. If I might make a recomendation, Smartcarry has worked very well with mine. Use your new Glock in good health!

Yeah, the G-19 is supposedly 1.18" thick and the G-36 is 1.13", acc. to the specs up on Glockmeister. But I don't know whether that's measured across the "thumb rest" or what. I always felt the G-19 was a darn handy pistol, but it clearly had a double-column mag - and it felt like it. The G-36 feels thin, but I haven't held the two side-by-side.

I mostly carry either a G36 or a Kahr K40. I use Comp-Tac holsters (http://www.comp-tac.com/ - I use a Pro Undercover) - they are outstanding. If I'm wearing sweat pants or shorts with an elastic waste, I use a SmartCarry, often on my strong-side instead of in front.

Many of us have tried lot's of combinations before we found what works for us - I've tried 1911's, SIGs, Berettas, H&K, various revolvers... in shoulder holsters, IWB, fanny packs... made by Galco, High Noon, DeSantis, Milt Sparks (which I love in the right situation)...

Either the G36 or a K40 in a Kydex IWB is what works best for me for daily carry. YMMV.

G36 ammo question.

Hi Jack,
Has anybody heard of or experienced feeding problems with the Cor-Bon 185gr JHP in the G36??
I tried to do a search, but got 500 responses!!
I bought a box yesterday and shot a mag full without any problems, but when I went home and tried to hand feed them, the rounds would jam!! My thoughts are that if ammo will not feed properly by hand, then I don't trust it to carry!!
The Remington GS and the Winchester Silvertip feed smoothly!!!
Today, I bought a box of Silvertip: 185gr!! :D

I carry my G36 every day. My ammo choice has been either 165 grain CorBon PowRball or 200 grain EFMJ. Both ammo types feed slick as owl snot and are EXTREMELY accurate.

Beware of packing any Glock in a soft holster that does not protect the trigger. At least if you carry one in the pipe.
