I am lucky enough to have come across a new Dan Wesson CCO. The stocks are a little thin in my hand and the tang on the mag sticks out just far enough to rub the skin off my little finger after firing 100 rounds the first time out. I'm planning on changing out the grips to something a little thicker but can't find a mag that is 'tangless' or maybe curved at the botton as some of the Sig mags are. I thought Wilson made a mag like that but in doing a search, couldn't find what I'm looking for. I've looked at Wilson, Mec-gar and a few others. I'm probably not explaining this very well but I hope I'm getting the idea across.

I like these from Wilson:

The steel base pad only protrudes a bit from the frontstrap when locked in, I like my pistols thin so I'm running with thinline alumagrips on my officer's size model, no problems with big meaty hands and the magazine's baseplate with those.

I also have a pair of these from Chip McCormick:

But I don't use the silly bumper pad thing, as far as I can tell it would only be useful for tearing a stuck magazine out of a big magazine funnel on a race gun ... the actual magazine floorplate is rather small, they don't give me problems but I ended up ordering more Wilson mags after trying both.

Images link to Midway's website, which in no way implies that I endorse any particular magazine buying location/method

As you can see from the picture, the mag is flush and the front of the mag protrudes just enough to bother my little finger to the point of drawing blood. The dremel tool is a good idea and I have a bench grinder that might be easier for me to control and then use the dremel to smooth the rough edge. I did see a gizmo called "xgrip" that adapts a full sized mag to an officer frame.

if you do that, then you should've just bought a Commander sized gun and not a CCO.
I was thinking the same thing and maybe I would have if I knew then what I know now. As zerodefect suggested, I scribed the contour of the frame to the mag, ground it down and finished it off with a fine toothed file. I took it to the range this morning and it was smooth as silk.

The mags that came with it are made by 'checkmate'. First time I ever heard of them but they function well. I put the Colt mags from my defender in it and the same problem showed up so I guess it's the way the gun was designed. I ordered a couple of Mec-gar mags with the bump for the little finger when at the range this morning. We'll see how they work out.
Skylerbone...I sent Sarge an E-mail this morning. I agree his work is beautiful.

Now you'll have to check out 1911Forum.com (not .org) and look into a COTEP membership. Check the DW section of the forum. A great bunch of guys that love their pistols and with good reason. Sadly, I've yet part with enough coin (thanks to the wife; ) for a DW.

Skylerbone....I go there quite often and like the joking and such that goes on in the DW sub forum. Like THR, there's a lot of good info to boot. I see a lot written about 'COTEP' and 'Karma' but don't really understand it all. I'm sure if I asked, it would be explained to me pretty quickly. As to your wife and parting with enough coinage...yer on your there buddy. I put money away from each paycheck into a 'gun fund' and my wife is ok with that.

glassman,

If you don't want to grind the front tang off, try bending it down about 15 degrees. Then it will be just below the bottom of your pinky instead of in the middle. Gives a little rest that aids in gripping the gun too.
