There is a thread in "Activism" titled "Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day" and I just wanted to let people know why they should attend.
One bill carried over from last year would make any magazine holding over 10 rounds illegal. Another would make all .50 rifles and loaded rounds along with all assault weapons illegal unless they are grandfathered. The catch is you must register them with the ISP so they will know where to go when they are outlawed at a later date.
These probably are not the worst, they have several concerning ammunition. If all of these would be passed it would be illegal to manufacture, sell or posess any firearm ammunition that was not encoded with a number registered in a database maintained by the ISP. Depending on which bill number the law would take place anywhere from 2009 to 2011 and be paid for by the $.05 tax per bullet sold.
Don't get me wrong this wont be the end of firearms in Illinois, this kind of nonsence comes around every year and with the help of many of our great downstate legislaters many of whom are Democrats shoot these down. But is is important gun owners in this state fight every year and on a united front. That is another of our problems in Illinois all gun owners are not united with hunters and shotgunners seeming to not worry about what might happen. I think I will make some copies of the ammunition laws and show some of the people at work that this will affect them also. Jim.
