Hey there,

There's a new rights organization that's been formed over the past few months, the American Gun Owners Alliance. We aim to be inclusive of all gun owners.

At the core of the organization is the basic need to stay informed, to that point we bring in new and updated state and federal laws 7 days a week. Members (100% free BTW) can set up automatic email alerts for laws they are interested in watching and following.

On top of that we are running a giveaway of a Gen 4 Glock 19 just for signing up with us.

There's tons more but I will let you browse around and ask questions here. I am willing to answer any and all questions you may have about what we have now and where we intend to go.

URL is amgoa.org, the Glock giveaway details are under the register menu item.

I fully intend to contribute here my friend ... we (and me) are here to keep anyone interested in defending their rights informed, that's what we do.

Our goal is to let you know the second some political weasel tries to get a law through that may take away your rights ... as I say in my 'message from the founder', I am not looking to be another 'talking head', I am here to do what I can and stand beside you to fight for our rights!

Thank you! We worked 3 months, 12 hours a day to try an come up with the best 2A site we could ... but we are no where close to where we want to me or the information we want to supply. We will get there come hell or high water!

David,

You have an admirable goal there and have taken on a much needed role. We found POPVOX to be very useful in tracking federal legislation in Activism, but we've seen a void for a central source of state information. Good to see someone trying to get that all in one place.

Cool site. I registered. I like the "clearing house" for the legislation. I did not know that in Texas we have 88 bills relating to guns in the House & Senate. Some of them are real turds, too! I also like the list of gun shows!

The interface seems to be a bit buggy on my end. For example, when I first go to the sight, it uses information about me (I registered) to give me a panel including information about what has been added since my last visit. When I click on a link from this area, I'm lead to a blank window. This is true for legislation, gun shows, groups, etc. However, when I browse to the appropriate category through the standard interface, I can find the information I am looking for easily. I am using Safari if that makes a difference.

Hope I win the Glock!

I just noticed what you are talking about, something has changed - will look into it

This looks like the most promising way to keep up with state laws I've found yet.
Keep it up.
Just curious how do you get all the info? Lol

Thank you,
DS

DS,

We 'pull' the laws from a company called legiscan every day. They are a repository for all federal and state laws.

We do a pull from them via keywords and phrases at 2 every morning. Then first thing in the morning we look through them to make sure anything pulled really is firearm related (you would not believe the bills that have the term firearm in them and have nothing to do with gun law).

If there are new laws that really need to be in front of people immediately we will add action alerts to the site and to many forums and our FB page and group.

For those of you that have signed up make sure to take advantage of the watch list and auto emails update (you can tag laws you want to follow and be alerted when there is any change to them)

As far as the problem mentioned before I actually saw it with my own eyes a few minutes ago and now I can't replicate it ... I will keep my eyes on it though.

Seems pretty neat so far.

I wish it told you on the legislation what the statuses actually mean;
In concurrence. ORDERED SENT FORTHWITH
On motion by Senator XXX of XXX, REFERRED to the Committee on CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND PUBLIC SAFETY, in concurrence.
etc.

once you read legalese for a while it starts to get easier.

We would love to have plain English interpretations of the laws up there but that would require a staff of writers and lawyers that would cost a fortune.

We found out today the Gen 4 Glock is illegal to own in CA unless it is altered into 'single shot mode' so we changed the giveaway so that if the winner lives in a state where the gun is illegal they can choose another Glock model of equal or lesser value that is legal to own.

Please see the bolded paragraph here for the change.

I like that part too.
Disappointed to see how many bills died in Montana. I thought we were doing better than that. :(
Perhaps you need to understand where MT politically is coming from?

For instance, the difference politically across the state line between WY and MT, is daylight and dark.

We added a new feature to the site yesterday, FFL reviews. You can add your positive (and negative) experiences with an FFL by locating them from our locate FFL page: http://amgoa.org/Federal-Firearm-Licensed-Dealers and then click on the link below their information that says 'Review this FFL'.

We do require membership (again 100% free) And reviewers to be logged in to add reviews, keeps the spammers and idiots from posting garbage.
