Gun shows seem to be getting more common. Some are pretty good, some are fair, and some are sorry.

I suppose some of you think that there are enough of them already.

But I have an idea for a new gun show.

They should take several well-known gun experts and team each one up with someone that has little or no gun experience. The expert then trains his rookie. The rookies then compete against each other.

I think this type of show could open up the shooting sports to folks that may have an interest, but are to timid to try. Also, the training part could help all of us. We might pick up helpful tips.

What do you all think?

I would love to see a well done gun show using real, regular, everyday people.

Obligatory elitist comment: There needs to be drama, action, fighting, sibling rivalry, blood and/or sex to attract the typical TV viewer base.

Cheapens it, I know.

I like the idea. I wonder though - training is highly subjective, and many people have different philosophies on training. How would you find a team of experts that share the same training methodologies, or are you thinking that would be part of the fun?

I didn't think of that aspect of it. But yes, it could be part of the "fun".

I am also thinking this show might be a way to get new blood into our sports. There might be people contiplating taking up shooting and might feel intimidated by it. Seeing other rookies learning to shoot might help them take the leap.

It would be nice to see everyday folks shooting. Shooters that are more like me.

I think it would be even better if they diversified the training philosophies as much as possible ...

So you wouldn't be just testing the competitors, but also the different techniques.
