I have about $1000 to spend I just need help making my mind up.
Semi-auto in .223

1) Ruger Mini 14 + another pistol
2) Bushmaster xm15
3) Any other recomended.

Four Saigas?:D

Or the new Mini-14 Target. They have it with a normal-profile Hogue stock on it, too, now.

Rock River AR platform. They seem to be built tighter than anything else I've looked at in regards to upper and lower fit. I looked at Bushy, Armalite and DPMS and could you take the lower by the grip and shake it and hear the upper rattle. Rock Rivers had no rattle between them. JMO or I may have just gotten lucky, not sure, but there was a notable difference.

Stag Arms AR15 clone (Better than Bushmaster IMO)!

Then you can spend you're extra $200-250 on mags, ammo, and a sling. ;)

As much as I am normally against advocating it (personal distaste), I would say you're in it good to buy yourself a good AR. You have enough money for a complete build of the "good stuff"--stainless, free-floating, heavy-barreled good stuff.

The mini 14 is a pencil-thin barrelled, scaled-down version of the M1 Garand operating method, and it performs only "average at best", from what I have heard. You have the choice of getting a sub-par rifle you'd be likely to sell later and a decent pistol, or an excellent build of an AR with some customization thrown in there for good measure (new grip, a sling, some mags to begin with) for around $7-900. What makes the most sense looking at it like that?

bushmaster baby. i have owned one in the past and i own one right now. they were(are) both great i have never had a problem out of either of em. they are good shooters, no complaints here. there are other good ar makers out there too that people are gonna suggest. but i can tell you with confidence that bushmaster ar's are squared away and good to go. i have experience with them bushmasters more than any other ar's put together, you will be happy.

here are a few pics of mine to coax you into joining the bushmaster family.:)
btw m4a3 16" barrel w/ izzy muzzle device. they can be had for about 4850 or a little less.

if it must be the typical looking ar, then go with mgi, or patriot ordinance, or any other piston driven ar. If your ar can look like anything, then 4 Saigas, in 4 dif cals, would be my get. Or in diff bbl lenghts, or diff furniture.

Huh?:scrutiny:

My Mini has served me quite well after thirteen years of continuous use.

Accordingly, I don't intend to sell it anytime soon.

either or!

you can build yourself an AR with a stripped lower and a parts kit for around 600. built mine with stag lower and model 1 part kit. never had a problem. or you can get a mini for less if you go used. love my mini but i love my ar too!

Well I did it

I bought 2 Minis and another gun.:D A deal that I could not let pass.:)
Thanks for the for the help.

Stag. Or better a Stag build. My last one I built cost $640, If I remember correctly. Take the money you save and blow it on something foolish. Essex
