I'm going to move out of this wretched state once I finish High school. I was looking at gun laws in NH at the anti-american brady campaign site (http://www.bradycampaign.org/legislation/state/viewstate.php?st=nh) and I said "Wow thats friggin awesome".It seems like the perfect place to own guns.Anyone live there that can fill me in more or destroy my dream state in case I'm wrong.The best part about this is that the brady nuts are as stupid as they get, yet they helped me discover one of the most gun friendly states.I should write them a thank you telling them about all the "assault" guns I'm going to buy,and how I'm going to bring a concealed FULLY LEGAL tec 9 every time I go to a school.

Perhaps when you're older you will realize that life does not revolve around owning an assualt weapon, and carrying it anywhere you want.

By this I mean, taxes, education, quality of life, environmement, job oppotunities, love, family and friends may make New Hampshire a nice place to live for the rest of your life. Gun-friendly firearms laws do not guarantee that, or even hint at it.

On a more serious note...if you're going to move anyway one thing to check is the gun laws and the gun 'atmosphere'.

Portsmouth is probably a lost cause, but the rest of the state is still nice. Seriously, though, I thank God for the Free State Project bringing decent people here to help counter the invasion of liberals and convicted felons from south of the border.

NH is good now but like in Vermont (probably a slightly better state gun-wise, no permit needed for carry) the trend is more NY/Mass/NJ etc. types moving in in the past few decades, and it's getting really obvious now, though long time residents have known for years about this problem. That's not to say that there won't be a big fight to prevent these leftists from destroying the gun rights in these states, but they already have gotten heavy taxes and various entitlement programs in so consider that before moving here or NH. My plan is to move to Alaska, but gun laws are only one factor in that, I have other important reasons for my plans. I certainly wouldn;t move to MA or NYC or NJ or the like, but I also wouldn't base a move solely on gun laws if socialists are gaining control in the states...

Of course, if you promise not to vote socialist, I fully encourage you to go to VT or NH and make one more good voter to resist the socialists!

I grew up in NH and much of my family still lives there. Its a very nice place to live. I just hope the socialists don't mess it up. I'm really hoping the Free State Project works, but its too early to tell either way. In the meantime, I live in the South and its a move I have yet to regret.

Well I know of course theres more to life than guns.I just didn't feel it necessary to list the obvious advantages of NH like scenery,No taxes on the small stuff,all the shops,bordering on canada ( a plus in my opinion ), the demographics ect.I did a little research and from what I have gathered the only major drawback is property taxes.plus it's right next to massachusetts,so my friends and family are a short drive away.Vermont is a good option too.I'm looking for a place somewhat close to home so it seems like a good candidate.

Well, I know the silencer thing ain't great (the fine for breaking that at the state level is $25 IIRC, kinda oddly small, it seems to have been more of an anti-poaching thing than much else) but many of us are working on getting that changed, so they don't punish everyone over what some poachers did years ago with them, they just use subsonic ammo in a .22 now for poaching and it works about as well to avoid being caught I guess.

Otherwise, besides silencers and "zip guns," almost anything goes really, machine guns, mortars, whatever you want if you follow the feds' stupid laws. And, no permit needed for conceal carry is a pretty big improvement over NH's permit required (not that NH is real restrictive at all on it, they just still require a permit for it, and a permit should never be needed for a right).

I live in NH, less than 2 miles from the Mass border. (Plaistow NH on route 125 if anyone is familiar) And to be honest I'm a little worried. Down where I am there has been a coule car jackings and an armed robbery at a gas station in the past few months. All of these people were arrested and were from over the border from Haverhill, Lawrence and many other places. Even had people drive into in my nieghborhood trying to steal stuff out of peoples sheds.

When I get out of college I'm considering moving further up north. When my parents moved here 20 years ago, we were the only house around, no neighbors, no paved road, really quiet. Nobody had ever heard if it. Now Plaistow is growing pretty quickly. I have an Aunt in Kittery Maine, and that also seems like a great place. So my reccomendation to you, is to go to central or northern NH. I just don't like the changes I'm seeing around here.

Like anything good, it only lasts a little while.

I grew up in Nashua, NH. The economy went up and down and up again. NH had a nice blend of health care, good living costs, reasonable tax structure, and great grandfathered gun laws.

When the M*******s figured out about the zero income taxes, they migrated up, and all of Southern NH is now filled with liberals who commute an hour down to the commie zone everyday. Roads are backlogged, on 93, 3, and the little side roads each day. Properties are inflated, and taxes have risen.

Work used to be limited, but more work have come to NH. Employers like Cisco are still there. Summers are lovely, and even brutally hot for a couple of weeks. Overall, it is not a bad place.

Crime comes with traffic and population explosion. Southern NH and even Concord are mixed with liberals and such.

NH is always home to me, but each day, it is becoming like any other rapidly growing city in America.

Winters really suck, though. From December through March, anything goes for snow, ice, sleet, heat wave, etc.

If you are lucky enough to find a good career employer in NH when you graduate, go for it.

AntiqueCollector , try and get a legal silencer in VT you won't as it will not be an approved transfer. Make your own and they will not only fine you 25 bucks but will then throw you to the feds.

Gee shall issue is better than no laws against carry it seems as VTer's cannot carry anywhere but in VT unless get this NH issues them a non residence license.

I hear you. Our southern neighbors practice a catch and release policy for their violent offenders, and eventually those felons (who should be in prison) end up migrating north. This Addison character who gunner down officer Briggs being the most high profile of the lot. He committed attempted murder twice in Massachusetts and was still walking around free in society after serving "slap on the wrist" sentences.

Crime is definitely on the rise, expecially here in Manchester, or at least it seems that way. I had a neighbor stabbed to death in his apartment last summer (who himself was a witness in a different murder). I also missed a shooting on Beach Street back on January 2nd of this year by just minutes (ironically I was actually driving back from my local FFL at the time). Also a gun shop that I drive by five days a week was burgalized by gang members not all that long ago (the offenders have since been caught and the stolen guns recovered).

Still, I think compared to other places it's not so bad. Carry permits are easy to get (here in Manchester we can fill out the application online), and overall it's considerably safer than Massachusetts. Of course it probably helps that we actually lock our violent criminals up.

I'm going to call "nonsense" on this, because from even a cursory analysis, this doesn't appear to be true. Case in point:

SD: shall-issue CCW, no state income tax, conservative state in a conservative region, police don't mettle generally, better education system than states like NY, and not a lot of pollution with large expanses of open land, minimal traffic and a rural or quiet suburban lifestyle is available anywhere in the state.

NY: very few CCW permits issued, restrictive gun laws, high state income tax, barely any conservatives and oppressive police forces, higher crime rate, more urban congestion, hardly any open land (unless you go significantly north), etc.

Only significant difference is the availability of jobs, I'd imagine - largely due to population density.

Pick any two states, one with pro-gun laws (or no gun laws) and the other with anti-gun laws, and I'd be willing to wager thta the correlation is pretty similar.
