I have got a glock 17 wich I enjoy to shoot and usually carry in the woods... Im wanting to get a new handgun for I am going to give my old lady the glock 17 "shes comfortable with it" for a HD gun... I have got about 600 to spend I was wanting to go with a new glock for a HD gun because its what im used to and feel is reliable for around 600 the only gun I can get around here in California is a another glock or a couple other guns like a Springfield GI,KAHR, or Taurus revolver... So im thinking of going with another glock as much as I don't like the 40 cal and I think the glock 22 is a little snappy im considering getting a glock 22 because the 21 is to big for my hand. My buddy owns a gun store and says the 21 SF grip is slimmer front to back but side to side is still to wide and his hands are bigger than mine... any recommendations?

Have you looked at the S&W M&P .45? If you like Glocks, and you like .45's, and the G21 is too big there is a good chance you will like it. It is available in a CA compliant model. I like Glocks but my first choice in a .45 would be the M&P.

chriso,
If you're not in a hurry wait a little while longer until you save up more than the $600 you already have and buy the gun you really want. Don't settle when it comes to a SD weapon. The S&W M&P is a good pistol that would be worth a look.

Good luck finding something you like within your price range.

Yeah I have not got a chance to handle the 21SF yet but my buddy said its still fat side to side. On friday hopefully Ill be able to handle it and see... Im a big glock fan but not a big 40 cal fan... as far as the MP's go how is their reliability compared to glocks???

Yeah the 21SF is definetly just as wide as the 21. The G21 is just a BIG gun. Too big for my liking and my hands are not small. I find my M&P9 to be as reliable as my G19 with similar round counts, but that count is less than 1500. Overall the M&P's haven't been around long enough to get a reliability record equal to that of Glock or other Pistols that have been around for years. In general I don't hear/read too many complaints about them.

Also since your wife shoots another nice thing is the M&P comes with the three different size grip inserts. I plan on adding an M&P in .45 this year.

Have fun with your decision!
