There are other pistols that will also meet your perceived needs, S&W makes several of varying sizes as does Springfield Armory, Sig and FN. If a singles toon pistol is considered the choices double, a mention was made of the Sig P 938 which is a super compact 9mm and a dream to fire (use the extended mag for a better grip) and carry but a range pistol it is not. The suggestion has been made to check out as many firearms as possible and purchase accordingly. Unfortunately I am another who cannot through personal experience, recommend Taurus.

Ok. So I've made up my mind. I'm going with the CZ p07. Not the duty model. I'll put up pics and stuff when I get it. And prepare for house war 375. LOL. The misses isn't a fan of firearms. Wish me luck.

Probably a good choice for your stated use. I have not shot a CZ P-07 but I handled one a few days ago and found it to be very comfortable in the hand and it pointed very naturally for me. Of course, your hand might differ, but in general most shooters have found CZ pistols to have some of the most comfortable around.

There was a time when double action/single action hammer-fired autoloaders like the P-07 were the most popular choice for self-defense handguns but in recent years they have been partially supplanted by striker-fired pistols such as Glocks.

Those who still favor DA/SA or DAO pistols feel they are safer because the long trigger pull in DA mode reduces the chance of an accidental discharge in an emotionally charged self-defense scenario. The downside of the DA/SA pistol is the need to master the transition between the first DA shot and the subsequent SA shots. Some people seem to find this easy with practice and others say the have never fully mastered it despite extensive practice. I would suggest that you take the pistol to the range and work on this transition by decocking the hammer after every second shot so as to shoot the first round DA and the second round SA.

You will also have another decision to make when you get the pistol. The CZ P-07 comes with a frame mounted lever that can either be a decocker only, or a safety. I believe the stock pistol is set up so that it functions only as a decocker, allowing the shooter to safely drop the hammer on a chambered round, but it includes another lever that can be interchanged maker the lever a safety.

Like everything else with handguns there is a difference of opinion as to whether a safety actually enhances shooter safety or detracts from it.

Well here she is. CZ P07 9mm luger. And I got a box of Speer Gold Dot 124 grain. Let's see how she treats me. 131d40a3d2e3f11b3a303454c2e308a6.jpg
