Most know Henry offers Special Edition rifles but for those living under rocks or new to the world of firearms I thought I’d share.

I will freely admit that the H004ES is not in any way 2.5x better than the basic H001 .22lr despite that being the price differential between them. I will however say that the rifle in dressed up form is well executed and that some events warrant purchases which otherwise make no sense.

Ive enjoyed ownership of a couple Henry’s and thankful they offer these tributes as a token of remembrance to mark special occasions. Not the least bit sorry for the purchase or for the Case Knife Eagle Edition that accompanied it. Looking forward to giving this one to my oldest and fingers crossed I’ll be springing for 2 more in the future.

Honestly when I first learned about the Special Editions I couldn’t wait to...look away. They seemed overly adorned, way too shiny, and just impractical. Thing is, I realized that darn it most folk don’t own engraved rifles of any kind given the upcharge for an actual heirloom rifle which could easily run 15x the price of a Henry.

Within that context these become a modest placeholder at what is still a bargain price. For a casual shooter such as my son it represents fine art because he’s never seen a Holland & Holland up close, as is the case I suspect with most people. For that reason my mind was given over to agreement that yes, it is a beautiful rifle rather than the gaudy thing I originally viewed it as. Speaking of which, the pistol I just ordered...in red...

Oooooh, nice. Sometimes they get carried away though. My LGS had a Texas edition on the shelf for quite sometime. I remarked that Henry went kind of overboard with that one and he agreed. He eventually sold it so someone thought it was OK.
