Got the new Houge G10 grips I ordered for the P226. They are considerably thinner (both side to side and fore and aft) than the stock plastics. I got the checkered option and they have some teeth but aren't crazy abrasive.

I also got the DAK option, so no more empty decocking slot gap, which just annoyed me.

Check out the Houge G10s if your looking for a thin, durable grip.

To give you a idea how much smaller the G10s are fore and aft, the G10 is closest and the factory plastic grip is on the other side.

Yep, Hogue's G-10 checkered grips are great. I have a pair on my Sig P226R Elite stainless, two pairs on two of my 5" 1911s and I have a pair on the way for my CZ SP-01 Tactical. I have very lightly sanded, using 400 grit paper, the checkered areas on all my G-10 grips to take down some of the sharp points from them. Something you can't do with their Alum. grips.;) The Hogue G-10 grips are color dyed throughout the material (at least the black ones are). Here is a pic of my P226R Elite with Hogue checkered G-10 grips on it:

I would like to eventually get a 226 or 229 equinox and put the G10 grips on there. I love the look of the stock grips, but they are just too thick for my hands.
