Trent they said they wont be doing any pkms until after the UK VZ 59s... once i get a teaching contract taken care of, ill be sending in down payment for VZ 59 as well... i see the value of investing in belt feds as well. and besides hi cap bans are meaningless when u shoot belt fed... :)

Well, in some states.

The ban that Illinois tried to pass this year would have made every individual link of disentigrating belts, or every segment of belt on fixed ones (mg42, maxim, etc) a felony.

yuck... thats why i live in the great state of Texas!

Yeah, all the 50BMG ammo I've ever ordered has come in on links.

So ... I've got a few 5 gallon buckets full of 50 cal links.

I read that bill, and thought.. "you gotta be {non thr comment} me..."

I don't know how many 50 cal links fit in a 5 gallon bucket. But it's a LOT. I must have a few thousand of them, at any rate.

Which would have come out to somewhere in the neighborhood of 21,000 years of prison time, if that bill went through and I didn't surrender them.

I was thinking.. heck, that might be some sort of new record for most jail time on a statutory offense! :)

I have a warm and fuzzy affection for the PKM . We used to pass a Iraqi checkpoint in Mosul that was manned with a PKM, One evening at our pre-convoy briefing we were told of an incident earlier that day of a dump-truck VBIED attack against said checkpoint . The driver was killed before he was able to close with his target. The truck did however did hit a nearby building and exploded killing several bystanders. Maybe not a real happy story, but as I explained to my gunner , it showed that a VBIED can be stopped with SAF and survived.
I just wish I could shake the hand of the Iraqi gunner, he has my respect.

PKM's are ASTOUNDINGLY accurate.

I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of one.

If you're waiting for a Vz58 you'll be waiting a long time. MarColMar is building Vz59's. I don't think its possible that you've had one on order for a year since they only offered them in feb or so. On the other hand, if you ordered a Vz59 of the first run you should get it pretty soon. Check their website for details. They've started shipping and others have received them.

If you are waiting for them to build more PKM's you may be waiting a while. Vz 59's are going to be done before any other projects get started.
Its going to take enough interest in the PKM and people with kits to even consider it.

Frank, sorry about the typo, hit 58 instead of 59.

If you're already shipping VZ59's, then we have a customer service issue. I was talking to Dave about these early last summer, and asked to be put on the list!

Our last communication was when I asked for a status update back in November 2012.

Will those VZ 59’s cock like the original, or will the trigger group be welded back like my WLA ZB37 and a secondary cocking arm be installed?

We are trying for them to cock like the original… we'll see if they approve it.

No, that is a reweld unit being done by Len Savage.
We are using an all new milled receiver, not a reweld, with a different design.

Gotcha. Given the options, I’d rather not have a reweld.

Keep me on that list of yours.

I imagine that "the list" I was on for pre-order didn't make it through to production?

Sorry Trent but talking about them with Dave and putting money down on one are 2 different things. The list consists of folks who have put a deposit down and I believe this was covered on the website and in his initial email to previous PKM buyers. Just asking to be put on the list doesn't mean you have a delivery position. Nothing was offered for depositors til feb this year so while you may be anxiously awaiting something it won't be a delivery unless you've put a deposit down since then. The project got started last summer but nothing real can happen til ATF gives it approval. That came about in Jan I think. No one was offered any sort of position until after that was in.

Deliveries are happening though I'm not sure how many of the first batch of 50 are sold or have been delivered. If you're seriously interested in these you should contact the folks at MarColMar about it. The email response to Daves initial message to PKM buyers was huge and things have gotten busier since assembly and shipping have started. Not sure how they keep track of things with all the phone calls and emails coming in....thats why they do the hard jobs though.
Hope that answers some questions.

Frank

Problem is, they never sent me an e-mail or anything about it. Never knew they were finally approved, never had the option of giving a deposit.

I got in touch with Dave today, he said I should start getting e-mails about it. So we'll see.

EDIT:

Trent,

Found out the problem… we set you up for general email notifications, not PKM and UK updates… sorry…
but we have a unit for you no problem.

Dave

That ends that issue. :)

The guys at Malcomar are pretty good to deal with.

Glad to hear you got it worked out. I think they're a good bunch and hate to see misunderstandings screw things up for them or you.

Heck I'm just glad you posted up and said something! I would have gone a few more months before thinking about it again, and by then, the production would be over and then... no gun!

Anyway, thanks for reminding me about all of it, hopefully I'll have one in the vault here soon!
