I took my first deer with a 91/30 using Sellier Bellot Sp's. The M44 will do just fine.

Get u those Seller Belliot 180 gr SP at Midwayusa or cheapdirtstuff. Ammo is hot loaded and thats what i use in my M 39.

I keep an Mosin-Nagant M44 loaded with 203gr SP. I figure if the shotgun can't penetrate enough and the SKS isn't powerful enough, then I'll go grab the M44
