Noticed IMR has some new powders, 4007 SSC and 8208 SSC. I'm just starting to load for the .22-250 and wondering if I might want to try these in it.

So far I've tried Varget and H380. The H380 is a good one but a bit to temp sensitive for my liking.

Opinions?

I haven't tried the 4007 but the 8208 XBR has proved very accurate in my .223 AR and 22-250 bolt gun.

I can't give you velocity numbers but the trajectory was noticeably flatter at 200 and 300 yards.

I also want to get some of Hodgdon's new Superperformance to try in my 25 WSSM. The website shows higher velocities at lower pressures...that is usually a good thing, right?

Yes and no from what I've read. I heard the higher velocity will wear out the barrel faster. When that happens I'll just buy another, again.

Been using Varget in the .22-250 but the 8208 XBR sounds interesting.

I am using 8208 in my 6.5 Creedmoor and it is great. Tried it in my A-Bolt 308 as well and every load has been 1 1/4" or less, with the best being 1/4" in the 6.5 CM.

I've had great success with 8208XBR in the 6PPC. There is a facinating article in 2010 Hodgdon Annual about development of IMR8208 and the guy who used it to win bench rest championship.
