New injectable sponges for stopping internal bleeding

Looks like the new RevMedx uses internal pressure of the expanding sponges to stop bleeding instead of a clotting agent which may be difficult to cut out and remove.

Interesting. I keep a big packet of blood clot powder, among other things, in my first aid kit when I run the range. Hope I never need it. But our range is a LONG damn way from a hospital. This would be a LOT cleaner and easier to use.

Okay, I had a really funny reaction to this article; my first thought was "Agh, needles! That must hurt" (remember, application is for gunshots, here :D). Then I opened the link and saw the applicator, which is more like a plunger than a syringe, and was relieved that it didn't look as painful as I thought it would (again, for a product intended for gunshot wounds :D :D)

Yes, it does look easier to track down (I'm guessing) pea-sized blobs of sponge rather than bits of ground up Quik-Clot, while still being able to be applied internally (as opposed to an external compress)

Looks like a breakthrough innovation - very impressive.
This should save plenty of lives.
