I have a new Lanber 2097 Sporting Lux O/U on the way. It will be to my FFL by Friday! I got the one with the 30 inch barrels. I will use it for a little trap and possibly for some hunting. I ordered from CDNN. I wanted to get one with the small blems but they were out.

As soon as I get it I know I need to clean it. Do I need to oil or grease the action? Also I hear they are a little stiff when you first get them. Is it ok to dry fire them?

Any suggestions would be great. This is my first new O/U!

dry firing is fine, but extended dry firing - buy the AZOOMS "dummy rounds" (some call them snap caps)

You will want to grease any bearing surfaces like the hinge pin or similar with something like Shooter's Choice red grease or similar. A wipe down with Remoil or equal when done cleaning on the barrels will help.

Enjoy your new gun!

I picked up a 2087 from them recently. Pretty sweet! Congrats! Mine was pretty clean. A wipe down with a light bit of oil comes off redish/dirty (from the barrels). I've cleaned her pretty well.

Sounds good! Thank you!

I just found out my FFL is out of town until next week so I will pick up the Lanber when he gets back in.

I've had a 2087 since '02 or '03. It has been a great gun. I feel their quality far exceeds their price. I have owned a Citori in the past, so I'm no stranger to quality in the O/U dept. They are a lot of gun for the money.

I recently bought a 2097 Sporting from CDNN. This was my first purchase from CDNN. I'm a little mixed about it.
The shotgun was a "new" non-blem gun. When I got the shotgun home, and gave it a good look over I found RUST on the barrel near the muzzle along the top rib. I called CDNN and one of the guys from the warehouse dept told me that it was 'probably the grease' that the gun was 'packed in' that had dried up. He told me to give it a good cleaning and the "rust color" should go away. Well the color did go away....and left behind was pitting! When I called back, I was informed that the rust doesn't constitute a "blem"...they made a small adjustment to the price....but honestly I was not in the mood to get into a back and forth match with them over a better amount of compensation.
Additionally, I was under the impression that the gun would come with 5 choke tubes. Mine came with only 2. When I was on the phone with them about that issue I was informed that the $579 Lanber 2097 Sporting comes with only 2 chokes. The $599 Lanber 2097 Sporting comes with all 5. Not a big issue. Just a slight annoyance. I paid the extra $20 and now have all 5 chokes.

I've put 50 rounds through the gun so far. The lever that locks the foregrip to the barrel kept popping down a little....drew blood.

SO......MY experience with CDNN and the Lanber is mixed. I hope the foregrip lever is just a break-in issue and that I don't have to ship the gun to Batchelder's for service.

I wish you the best of luck with yours!!!

I would not dry fire any double without snapcaps, often the firing pin openings are tapered and pins can become wedged, actually protruding, and since its closed you wont see it. opening or closing can break off or damage the firing pin.

Lanber

I have a 20ga Lanber O/U. Looks and shoots like a Beretta at half the cost.
I am much more than pleased with mine. One of the best deals around. Beautifull shotgun.
