Folks

Just a quick update. I was excited a few weeks ago when I won a Lanber 2097 on Gunbroker for what I thought was an excellent price of $380. Unfortunately, there was significant damage to the gun when I received it. Here's the thread that describes that:

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3217&highlight=lanber

In the interim, Gunfinder.net (the dealer I bought it from) offered to have the gun picked up by UPS (which they did) and replaced. Unfortunately Janet at Gunfinder said "that was the last 2097" and they would replace it with something else or a refund. Just for grins, I called CDNN (who adverts lots of Lanbers) and they confirmed that indeed, the 2097 supplies have dried up (sorry for those that wanted one - 9x19 is that you?)

All of the "replacement" options I gave Janet were deemed too expensive -- e.g., they had more in the gun than I had paid. They have offered to send the gun back to Lanber to have the barrel rib and stock replaced. So far, I am really impressed by Gunfinder.net's customer service...especially for a gun I suspect they're not making a whole lot of money on. Still tentative but I can endorse Cliff and Janet on their efforts to date.

I may be one of the few people who get to experience Lanber's overseas customer service (good or bad). One of the concerns often mentioned by people about Lanbers is the unknown of their customer service.

Looks like I'm the lab rat...willl inform you of how things go. Wish me luck...

Good luck then, I hope that everything turns out OK
Yes I wanted one, but I am from too far away to shop from US stores lol

Stay Safe ;)

Well sounds like they are taking care of you, I have a lanber model 87...so I'm real curious how good their customer service will be.

Good luck to you...BTW couldn't they give you one of the other lanber models and refund the difference?

Yes, probably...

...but I really had my heart set on that one. I gave the options of a 2097 w/ 30" bbls (none left), 2088/2098 (didn't think I'd get that one, double the price). Didn't ask about the 87 (I think they're about the same with a different stock and rib set-up) but she volunteered to send it back for service.

Will give this route a try...if no deal, I'll try your suggestion BAMF

OK here is something to make you feel better: We have to pay approx. 900 euros over here for a Lanber 2097 (1 euro=1,06 USD)
;) I understand that in England (big O/U shotgun market) the 2097 retails for approx 800 euros.
Maybe you could get the refund and try to get the firearm from another shop -even if you pay a little bit more money. I would do that if I wanted to buy something I had my mind set on it. Best

Stay Safe ;)
