Jack Huntington Advanced Gunsmithing is offering a new, 'lil .500 JRH' conversion for the Ruger SA revolvers.
the lil .500 JRH is made by taking .500 JRH brass, or S&W 500 brass, and cutting it to 1.1"
It's designed to shoot a 350 grain bullet at 800 fps, low pressure, and, low recoil.

The package is 700.00, and includes the following:
4" quality barrel
A 5 shot cylinder .50 caliber. This is NOT align-bored. The package is designed to keep costs down, yet give you a quality custom .50, for an affordable price. The hand is changed, and, that's it. Check with him, but I think he's going to blue the gun as well, but I'm not sure.

I'll probably have pictures, and more info next week, if I can get up there.

$700 is keeping the cost down? How? You're getting up there with USFA prices, especially when you consider the cost of the donor gun.

For that price, I would expect the whole gun and not a conversion since they're not doing anything but parts swapping a barrel and a non-align bored cylinder/hand.

If you check custom conversions from the top gunsmiths, most barrel and cylinder conversions start at about 1300.00, and go up, real fast. Last time I checked, same work from Linebaugh would be 1900+.

Try finding a .50 caliber handgun, and, you'll see even at 1000 dollars, this is an excellent value, if you already have a ruger.

If you can come up with an alternative from a top gunsmith, even close to this in price, I'd love to see it.

That sounds cool! I might have to look into one of those conversions :)

And $700 including a new barrel and cylinder is dirt cheap. A simple .44 Spl conversion using the old cylinder and barrel is $500.
