A new Great Plains Rifle followed me home. .50, with the 1x66" twist.
Any other GPR shooters out there? How do you like yours?
Favorite loads?
What kind of accuracy do you get from yours?

I have the flintlock version, it shoots really good with 85 gr. ffg and roundball, I've only put about 75 rounds through it so far, but it seems to shoot better every time I take it out. Though I probably won't ever take any hunting shots with it at 100 yards, its more accurate than most shotguns shooting slugs at that range. Keep the pan really clean and don't use too much priming charge and it should go off fairly regularly. :D

I'm looking at getting a flintlock, but everyone I've talked to who shoots a lot says go for the more expensive guns--$800 or more--because the quality of the lock is so much better. So my question to you all is how has your flintlock been functioning? Any particular problems to be aware of. I'd kind of like to get into this for a little less money perhaps, but hesitate to go against expert advice. I'd appreciate any thoughts or input.
