This is a scale I received today, looks mint and never used. When I built my reloading bench I made it perfectly level. The scale zeroed is about 1/4 inch out of level but the check wts all read correct. I read somewhere that to get it to read correctly when level that you add lead shot in the hang tray , then attach the lead amount permanently. My question is, does it matter if it's not level with the bench?

Like mine.

The hanger the pan sits on, may have a screw in its base. If you remove it, there may be some small lead shot inside.
The lead shot amount can be adjusted to help balance the scale.

Buy it should work fine, as is, in your photo.

Thank you 243winxb for your information, I'm going to work on it tomorrow. I also have two rcbs 5-10 scales that should arrive next week. Getting very close to being able to start reloading.

Have you adjusted the left foot as far as it will go and the scale is still not zeroed? The knurled holder for the supplemental weight, at the left end of the scale base, is the adjustment knob.

If the scale came with its original pan, then it shouldn't be necessary to adjust the lead shot in the pan hanger - the two would have been matched at the factory. But if you're using a different pan, and it's enough different in weight from the original that the adjustment foot can't compensate, then fiddling with the lead shot in the pan hanger is appropriate. Should that be necessary, you probably should put the adjustment foot in about the middle of its travel, and get as close to zero as you can by messing with the lead shot - if yours is like mine, there are several different sizes in the pan hanger.
