I recently aquired an Inland M1 Carbine, but I need to get a new barrel for it. The old one is pretty much shot out. Does anyone know where I might find one form the correct time period my carbine was made. It is an Inland S# 492233X I was told it was made in early 1944. My question is does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a M1 Carbine barrel, made by Inland that would be "correct" for this rifle? Or confirm that this was when this rifle was manufactured. I would prefer one that does not have any import marks thanks

I think you would have a better chance at finding a unicorn than an original USGI barrel for a Carbine that is either new or like new. There are some aftermarket barrels out there, just make sure you don't get one of the chrome lines ones. You cannot set the headspace after it is installed unless you have the high dollar reamers for cutting chrome.

Several months back, I found a place that specialized in both USGI carbine receivers and barrels (as well as other parts).
I have just searched now and cannot find it now.
Either they went out of business, or I just do not remember the search phrase I used.
If I find it, I will pass it on.

No sooner did I post this, than I found it:

GI barrels in good condition, prices have gone through the roof the last couple of years; if you insist on one(especially in new condition) be prepared to pay at least $200.

If you're willing to use a non-GI part, you can get a very good barrel for $100 or a bit less. Some of them are short-chambered so you'd probably have to cut the chamber to final dimension. Not historically accurate for a restoration but good for a shooter.
