hello all!

I am new here.

I have a problem that i need some help with. i have two very nice rifles. a remington 700 VSLH 22-250 and a ruger 1022T. i would like to do some competitive shooting, but am having a hard time figuring out what these rifles are eligible for. i REALLY wanted to do NRA High Power, but you need a rifle with 5 rounds cap and i would need to add iron sights (not a big deal, but in combination wiht upgrading to a larger mag, i would be better off buying a new rifle!). they are both superbly accurate and i handload, which helps.

NRA HP does have a sporting/varmint rifle class at 100-200yds, but even with a CF .22, i think 200yds is too short for this rifle. it is a super tack driver. I havent shot the "T" in a year or so and thought that it would be a little front heavy for anythign that requires shooting offhand, but the BBL can be turned down and the fore-end hollowed out to helpv with that. is an autoloader allowed in NRA smallbore?

any suggestions!? (maybe buying a new rifle?--i just hope i could get enough money for them on trade!!!)

thanks!!

Eric

you could shoot small-bore with your 1022

the rem700 could be shot in NRA HP Mid-range matches. i.e. 300-500-600 yrds. however, at the longer end of that, the varmint bullets will be challenged

i'm assuming you have a typical very slow twist on it. if you rebarreled it, you could easily shoot mid- or long- range with it.

for those matches, you don't shoot standing, sitting or rapid-fire. it's all prone slow fire, from a sling, bi-pod or rest
