It would appear that some folks could seriously use one:

Jews in Yemen reportedly fled their homes due to threats from Al Qaeda members who sent letters to 45 Jews living in al-Salem, near Sanaa, on 19 January 2007, accusing them of involvement in an "international Zionist conspiracy".

A guy reached out to be a part of the forum. No need for your response.
Your decision to speak primarily about Jews in the middle east leading to politics regarding Israel as part of an initial greeting to a likely Islamic man from the middle east who never brought up the controversal topic shows a total lack of sensitivity and a disregard for manners or complete ignorance.
Its like creating an immediate wedge rather than speaking of common ideals regarding firearms.
Yemen is one of the few parts of the world that has long had even greater firearm freedoms than here in the USA. Let us learn from this guy rather than creating immediate wedges that cause him to shy away from the forum.

Be at ease, my remarks were not intended as any sort of personal slap at the OP or attempt to sidetrack the discussion.

I was merely pointing out a true situation, and that private gun ownership can still mean much more than just a gratifying hobby and recreational activity for certain groups.

AKs here are full automatics, they are sold as they are produced, no modifications in any way.

Welcome Indeed. Yemen is seen as an unfriendly place to westerners and we need more communication from Yemenis so that we can break down predjudice.

I think Yemen is interesting because Arabian culture actually orginated there and spread northward into what is today Saudi Arabia.

Most scholars believe that many Bible stories from the Old Testament took place in Yemen.

I love the desert. Do you have an opprtunity to go out in the desert...and shoot or hunt? That is kind of a tradition here in the western USA (although I have not yet had that pleasure).

Please send photos-!
One nice thing about this intra web is meeting peole from around the world.
Unfortunatly this forum locks and deleats threads that are not spicifically GUN orented. So it might be difficult to share cultures here.

Id love a full auto AK..

Welcome to the forum friend, it is good to hear from you.

Just out of curiosity, if I were to visit Yemen, would it be possible to go to the designated area and shoot if a Yemeni citizen were willing to assist?

I have no current plans to visit but am curious nevertheless. I would enjoy blasting a un-altered AK in the desert. :)

Welcome. I've never had the opportunity to go to Yemen, but I have friends who have visited and been quite impressed by your country and its culture. It's good to have a Yemeni on the forum.

I look forward to doing just that and get to know some of you.

Yemen is more of a mountainous area, I haven't gone hunting, but planning on doing it sometime soon! :)

I will definitely post photos when I go shooting to show the area and the guns I use. Zoogster suggested I refrain from posting pictures while using illegal firearms, as I mentioned, there are no gun laws in the tribal areas outside of the cities, so it won't be illegal where I am, but just in case, I'll blur my face from the pictures as to keep my options of visiting the USA and the rest of the world (wouldn't want a TSA agent at Dulles airport ask me about pictures of me shooting an H&K G3 with a grenade launcher mounted on it :D )

There is no problem at all. Anytime we have foreign guests here, shooting is part of the tour :)
