On Dec 15th I decided that it was finally time to make the purchase I have been putting off. I went the the LGS and was looking at the LMT CQB, had it ready to go and he said, we also have a piston version. He brought that out and I walked out with a brand New LMT CQB 16" Piston, ACOG, 2 PMAGS, and a ammon can of Federal M855 ammo. My only retreat is that I did not buy both, all the pmags, and the other 4 ammo cans of the ammo...Oh well.

Anyways, after putting in orders for my upgrades and accessories, here is the coming out of my new toy!

LMT CQB 16" Piston
ACOG
Tactical Link Convertible sling
Tactical Link 360 Sling Mount
Tactical Link B.A.D.
Smith Tactical Vortex Flash Hider
Geissele SSA-E 2 Stage Trigger
Voodoo 42" Tactical bag

** The flash hider is a disappointment in that inside the house where it is quite, when charging the battery, you can hear the tuning fork effect from it. I am waiting for silencer co to bring their flash hider to market that solves that issue. Otherwise the flash hider completely eliminates the flash from what I can tell

Very nice gun ! Personally I would have stayed with DI on an AR. I don't get the charge the battery and hear the tuning fork bit tho?

The flash hider rings like a tuning fork when you release the bolt.

Since the prongs are the same length they resonate. SilencerCo has developed one that has uneven "prongs" on the flash hider that does not resonate.

Very nice rifle!!

One of mine looks very similar, though it is a "Franken" rifle and DI. Mostly Daniel Defense, with a CL FN barell.

I really like the ACOG on yours. A high quality optic is one place that I am lacking. Making due with a Vortec Strike Fire.

Once again, congrats!!

(BTW...I am a big fan of LMT...wish I owned one)

I'll have to tell old Mr. Smith about his tuning fork! He certainly does make the BEST FLASH SUPPRESSOR tho.:D
Every test I've seen nothing is as good. I'm sold on them, for a flash suppressor.

Nice rifle. I just got optics on top of my work in progress franken-rifle. Mine is running a Daniel Defense 18" S2W contour barrel with a Syrac Ordnance adjustable gas block.

I retained the Yankee Hill Machine free float quad rail for now, although once I get the gas system dialed in to my liking I will at some point put a longer hand guard on, most likely a 15" JP.

The stock A2 flash suppressor is gone, and I replaced it with a Dreadnaught F2 compensator which is admittedly enormous, blasty, and slightly ridiculous. On the other hand it seems to be very very effective at controlling the muzzle, the rifle moves more from the bolt carrier group and buffer reciprocating than it does from recoil.

I am using it on a Colt LE 6920 lower that I put a Geissele Super Dynamic 3 gun trigger in, which I like quite a bit although if you don't maintain a firm grasp of the rifle and ride the sear it will bump fire and double. I might need to put the 4.5lb trigger spring in, but so far with positive weapon control I have had no further issues. I may order another Geissele SSA-E for the original CMMG lower that the upper I built came off of, and put the upper back on it. This would be preferable since the mid-lenght gas system and the H2 buffer in the Colt lower don't get along very well with light loads like Wolf 55gr, or remanufactured BHA 55gr. So I end up having to swap out buffers and uppers to make it work, which is a pain in the ass.

For optics I put a Nightforce 3.5-15X50 NXS that I had laying around on top of it in a Nightforce Uni-Mount that I just got from Brownells. It looks ridiculous, and is too heavy but for now it will have to do. Later I will buy a more suitably sized optic for it in the 2.5-10X32 or 42 range.

The original Colt upper is a SOCOM 2 and is now wearing an Aimpoint and the iron sights it came with.
